| It's still better to wait until you need the health. Mathematically, it works out better, assuming that you take the perks once you level up, and that you save the potions until after you've had to use the level up. #64 -
zandersave (04/19/2015) [-] actually on the contrary. Mathematically it would work out better to take the perks. Why heal to full (like 150 hp) once every hour (amount of time i assume it takes you to be near-dead), when you can take 50% less damage from every hit for the whole hour. Possibly mitigating 100's of points of damage. #72 -
thumbwhoremuch (04/19/2015) [-] Skyrim also scales to your level so taking the perks for damage mitigation is semi pointless as the damage enemies deal also increases making it less mitigation than the perks will actually give and in some cases pit you against much harder foes. #73 -
thumbwhoremuch (04/19/2015) [-] It honestly depends on your play style. I've done it both ways and while I like both it is really useful being able to have the emergency full heal. That's why said that it only works of you use the level up before the potions (assuming you don't include resting and other automatic healing). This would, of course, likely end up with you having to level up early on. Still, it's better to lose most of your health, then level to get it back, and still have your potions (which heal the same amount regardless of your level or perks), than to level immediately and end up in the same position that you would have ended up in eventually if you had waited to level. | ||

| Maybe it's just because I play on console (I know filthy console peasant), but none of the perks really interest me until I get to 100. It's still better to wait until you need the health. | Because enemies become harder as you level up. Notice how early game you weren't fighting hundreds of drauger kings but later on they were fucking everywhere? I save my levels for when I'm low on health and I've run out of Food/Potions. It makes for a good fuck you to the enemies. | Yeah, that entire story was fake as shit, even without Dragonrend. You know you could probably beat the fucking game by level 5 right? When you gain levels, you don't necessarily need to level up.
