#32 - SAO had such a good idea, and then got rapey and incesty.  [+] (12 new replies) 01/26/2015 on a tale of tragedy +29

Try Log Horizon. Same basic idea - completely different (and better) show.
#111 - budokai (01/26/2015) [-]
but at least that didn't take over the story line like in so many other anime. Okay the rapey bit was horrible but you could actually ignore the incest if you put it down to 'girl meets guy in VRRPG falls in love and doesn't realise until later its her brother'.

#92 - anonymous (01/26/2015) [-]
It got bad before the rapey and incesty parts, it started going down hill with the harem-bullshit first.
#45 - klille (01/26/2015) [-]
not to mention rushing through the best parts to get to much less interesting stuff

i mean, who wouldn't have liked SAO if it was two seasons of nothing but the original MMO, in the same concept but much slower while expanding on the world

also, that fucking fairy is creepy has all hell jesus christ

pretty much why i liked log horizon much better
User avatar #82 - emiyashirou (01/26/2015) [-]
SAO Progressive is pretty much that. Kawahara (the author) started a reboot novel doing Aincrad floor by floor. Last I checked it was only up to floor 3 or something though.
User avatar #98 - formidableguy (01/26/2015) [-]
that sounds awesome
User avatar #64 - formidableguy (01/26/2015) [-]
I would have much preferred if it started dealing with how people had come to accept that it was their life now etc and finished all 100 levels instead of jipping it at 75.
#69 - anonymous (01/26/2015) [-]
Its almost like SAO is based off of some kind of earlier work.
Maybe fans of the original work wouldn't like the story being high jacked by a bunch of whiny faggots who refuse to appreciate it for what it is.
The world at large in SAO is much more interesting than just one piece. The first season was just the origin story of the different games kirito visits. Everything after that is trying to expose you to how characters deal with real life and the game at the same time.
I recommend you watch .hack its just as slow, condescending, convoluted, and poorly written as you seem to want SAO to be. Or you could watch log horizon, which is infinitely better than either show. OOOORRRR you could watch no game no life which is waaay better than even log horizon.
fuckin casuls

Hmmm interesting, that does make a certain amount of sense, thoughI'm not sure your average 1930's-40's German citizen would catch that. To me it looked like it was supposed to be the leg of a famous statue or something but America's most notable statue is the Statue of Liberty which isn't in gold.
User avatar #72 - formidableguy (01/26/2015) [-]
the liberty is in the background, before WW2 the German people relied heavily on America to loan them money, then the Wall ST crash happened and then Nazi Germany happened.

German cities were then bombed by US and UK planes, hence the bloodstained bomb.
The average German at the time would of been aware of both the help and dismay the US had shown Germany, both the beauty and the destruction.

I think you're right. Damn, got my hopes up. Oh well, a Halo Wars sequel would be pretty neat since we never really found out what happened to the Spirit of Fire. The Halo Universe is vast, so I hope to see it explored a bit more.

Fine. You asked for it.

I never played R.U.S.E, though it had piqued my curiosity.

I think Halo Wars would have had a great modding community, it had the potential to be the basis for some really neat stuff.

Yeah, that was miserable, but the levels were also small for my tastes, and the unit roster was pretty basic. I had fun with it offline, but never took it online since you'd typically see one of two different types of unit rushes.
User avatar #33 - formidableguy (01/16/2015) [-]
