You're being cute right now, and your ego is quite well developed I see. But it's irrelevant. Alcohol dulls the senses far more than just a relatively slow person, and as I said you will find out sooner or later. Is it really such a hassle to avoid such an unneccesary risk? No, you just don't want to admit there is any risk because your ego can't take it.

It's not like I get fucking trashed and go driving. I do have my limits. I can judge for myself when I'm too fucked up to drive; I don't need the government doing it for me.
User avatar #20 - teranin (05/02/2014) [-]
The content and your earlier comments paint a different picture, but I'm glad you have limits. Also, driving is a privilege not a right, and in this instance government is actually totally in the right to make and enforce laws against intoxicated driving. I agree they're a bit too strict on the levels of intoxication, but they are dealing with an epidemic killer that kills more young people than anything else in the country. You have to be strict against such things.
User avatar #21 - footballmaniac (05/02/2014) [-]
A BIT too strict? If you get arrested for a DUI and refuse a blood test, you get more jail time than Casey Anthony got for murdering her kid.
User avatar #22 - bigfootluke (05/02/2014) [-]
there's a reason why dipshit. if you refuse a blood test then you know in the back of your mind that you were too drunk. and the court knows it too. thats why its fucking strict.
User avatar #23 - footballmaniac (05/02/2014) [-]
You're a fucking retard. That has nothing to do with it. If you refuse, you're automatically tried for the highest tier. You're not saving yourself by refusing.
Have you considered that maybe there's a philosophical principle behind it and the concept of being forced to have your blood drawn pisses you off?
User avatar #31 - teranin (05/02/2014) [-]
What part of driving is a privilege, not a right, are you not getting? They can demand that due to the fact that you were driving on public-funded streets, in a conveyance for which there is a required license. Don't want to have the risk of your blood being drawn? Don't fucking drive. Don't want it to be an issue either way? Don't drink and drive.
User avatar #32 - footballmaniac (05/02/2014) [-]
I don't need yours or anyone else's permission to drive, sober or drunk.
User avatar #33 - teranin (05/02/2014) [-]
Actually, yes you do, it is a privilege not a right. You require the permission of the state to drive your vehicle. I'm a libertarian, I get the mentality, but since this is a service provided to you by the state, they have every right to manage it. If the roads were all privately funded, then you would need the permission of those private forces to drive on their roads. It's the same principle.
User avatar #34 - footballmaniac (05/02/2014) [-]
I paid for my car. I'll drive it whether the law says I can or not.
User avatar #35 - teranin (05/02/2014) [-]
You paid for the car, but other people paid for the roads along with you. You do not privately own the space upon which you drive your car, and must therefore follow the laws implemented on those spaces. Own a parking lot? Drive in it to your heart's content, you can't be pulled over. But driving on public roads is a privilege, not a right, and you will respect the lives of others or you will go to jail.
User avatar #36 - footballmaniac (05/02/2014) [-]
So by that same logic, I shouldn't be allowed to walk upon the roads?

And you just said it yourself, I helped pay for the roads too. So I have the right to them too. Idc if the government disagrees.
User avatar #37 - teranin (05/02/2014) [-]
When you are in public, i.e. walking on public streets, there are laws you must obey as well. This is how legislation works, laws are passed in the public interest on publicly funded areas, like streets and parks.

No one has a right to use anything publicly funded, they have the privilege of using it if they follow the grounds of whatever legislative requirements there are to make use of said publicly funded space. None of those people have the right to use the road, they have to follow the laws in order to use it, and so the fuck do you.

knowing how to drive does not render alcohol meaningless, it does not reduce one iota it's effects on the judgement center of your brain, your reduced reaction speed, all of which is compounded with the more you drink. Yes, you can safely arrive at your destination while drunk, but you will ALWAYS, WITHOUT EXCEPTION react more slowly to things on the road. Your vision, ability to determine signage and predict the actions of others on the road, all of it becomes impaired. Don't think that a baseline of driving ability will save you from the effects of intoxication, it will catch up to you one day.

But you'll find that out on your own, one way or another.
User avatar #17 - footballmaniac (05/02/2014) [-]
