No one sets out to create a language. They develop slowly. If there wasn't the internet and the globalization we have today, American could be a completely different language by now. Notice that Websters effects occurred before the telegram. English complaining about US changing the language is hypocritical is all I am saying.

"proper" English is just a bastardized version of French and German. Maybe we should just speak French eh? After all, English people are just French people who live on an Island.

A mix of French and German, with other little nationalities scattered about, too. But why not speak French, you ask? Well, most of us are raised speaking English, but if one wants to learn French then power to them. I'm very aware that English is a mongrel language, but it also comes with the perks of being such - it's a lot more flexible and expressive. There are more words in the English language than in pretty much all others, and more words get created as we progress. If you don't like the language then fine - learn another or design your own. My main message was that what Webster tried to do wasn't to create a new language - he merely tried to simplify English. He barely made an impact, however, as American English and Traditional English are pretty much the same to all but native speakers. We can all tell the difference between English, French, and German, however.

Good languages are normally phonetic. See German. The British were absolutely terrible at spelling though. Still are. So Merriam Webster made an improved version of the language.

Webster was a lazy guy. "Improved the language"? Ha! He changed words like colour and centre but didn't touch words like thorough and germ (why not a 'J', O glorious Webster?) He left some words with double letters and allowed silent letters to remain at the start of words. If he wanted a better language that was more phonetic, why didn't he at least put in a bit of effort and design it to be fully phonetic? As you typed this message of yours, you used words such as "language" and "German" - why not "lengwij" and "Jerman"? Well, I'll tell you why (assuming you're an American) - It's because Webster was near useless and couldn't even extend his rules to the majority of the English language that you speak right now. If you want to simplify English, at least do it right. Otherwise you'll just have to use proper English like the rest of us.

He means talking to you walking hypocrisies never yielded any sort of understanding from you blinded self-righteous bigots.

All you do all day is go around talking about a bunch of shit you don't understand or simply REFUSE to understand.

You are literally LITERALLY (not figuratively) selling your country into slavery AND YOU DON'T CARE

Though this is anonymous I'll respond in case others are reading: it's you who are the hypocrites. You want freedom yet want to ban people from recording in public. I understand this very well - contrary to your belief - and find it laughable how people like you argue against reasonable statements with statements that contradict themselves. I'm aware that this anonymous is probably just kidding around - I can't take what they said seriously, to be honest, though I responded just in case.
