Hero academia. The manga is fuckin' cash and interesting characters, so of course the'll overhype the anime even though there's a phoenix wright anime coming out too

Kohei Horikoshi is an unsung god of manga, on the level of Oda near-enough. This guy is going places, man. I was really broken up when Barrage got cancelled because the art in that is just as good as Hero Academia, but Academia out-does Barrage on the story by a factor of 10. Really glad this one caught on because Horikoshi deserves it big time.

Academia works because there are no cut corners. Minetta is the biggest perv character I've ever seen in the regular supporting cast of a shounen series. All Might is the absolute epitome of the superhero ideal to the point where it makes him one of the most hated people in the world. Deku is the biggest optimistic hard-worker I think you could realistically get away with in this context.

The way he blends completely ott characterisation with perfectly natural characterisation is so rare a talent in ANY medium, with most authors that try that sort of thing creating Narutos who just parrot the word 'Hokage' and who all the supporting cast need to reinforce as being the things that he is supposed to be. But in Academia all of the characters stand on their own.

Oh, and as if that's not enough, Horikoshi manages to have character designs more diverse than the ones in One Piece and he manages to do it without resorting to hideously unnatural/disgusting proportions to do it. I hope we see some of his character designs from Barrage being carried over because it's a shame to waste them.
