I'm perfectly fine with people having any gun as long as they can prove they know how to use, store, clean them, have good trigger discipline, can actually aim and go through mandatory psycological evaluation. Too many times do I hear about kids dying because of 4th of july celebratory fire in the air, kids and pets shooting their parents and owners and so on.

Blame the media then. These things are a statistical anomaly that gets reported to death because it gives them ratings.

The fact that it happens all the time is unacceptable, it happens way to often in the US, the fact that a lot of them gets to keep guns is even more unacceptable.

STATISTICAL. ANOMALIES. It means that they're in fact so rare, the fact that they happen is worth notice. You don't hear about the millions of other people not hurting or killing themselves or other people with guns because it's not fucking news. Don't deign to try and tell me about what's wrong with a culture you know next to nothing about besides memes your exposed to on the internet

You do know those other people would not lose their fucking guns at all, right? it would ONLY take guns away from people who don't know how to use them.

Also,
>it only takes them away from someone who doesn't know how to use them
Why don't you support doing this with automobiles then? Cars kill orders of magnitude more people than guns do

We do that you idiot. However far more people have cars use their cars and when people actually fuck up with cars, they do lose their liscence.

If more people are using their cars right, why are there so much more deaths from auto accidents than guns? Answer me that please. Does it really matter to the people who died if the driver loses their license after he plows into their car drunk? Your idea of punishing people for their crimes can be applied without a licensing scheme.

Because far more people have and use their cars. More people dies from stabbing then nuclear weapons, let everyone have nukes. Yes it help because it stops them from doing it the future.

Also, misrepresenting my argument doesn't make your argument more valid. It makes it look like you have no point to make

Punishing people for crimes stops them from doing it again? You mean like people who do stuff without licenses too?

#27 - Onemanretardpack (05/26/2016) [-]
In the US there are a comparable number of firearms and vehicles, why are the stats not higher for guns than cars, then?

Why are you being rude? Like if you don't agree with me, that's fine. I don't care, you're so insignificant that it doesn't really bug me. But if you're going to be a belligerant retard (like most people who support gun control) there's no use even arguing. You'll just ignore everything I say and point to the vocal minority and statistcal anomalies and feelings to support your argument instead of cold hard facts.

And you do realize that someone has to be in charge of who gets guns right? Where's the line? Mental health issues is what your main issue seems to be, so I'll counter with the fact that you cannot legally own a gun anywhere in the US if you've been committed to a mental health insitution. If you actually think more mental health barriers are needed, where do they set the line then? A blanket list of mental illnesses that keeps people from owning guns? Yeah, that's not easily abused at all. Get prescribed ritalin as a kid? No guns for you. There's nothing to even stop them from listing the fact that someone wants to buy a gun as a mental condition. Absolutely zero of any proposed legislative actions in the US regarding gun control would have stopped any of the mass shootings that the media blows out of proportion. There's very little you can do to actually stop lots of the violent crime in America because we have a culture problem among our minorities. Gang violence artificially inflates all violent crime rates in the US and makes up a disproportionate amount of gun violence statistics. If you take away gang violence from statistics like the rate of firearm-related homicides, it drops considerably to the point where it starts to resemble Canada. There are countries with much more restrictive gun control than the US (See: Brazil) and their homicide rates are through the roof. There are precious little aspects of politics where there is a definite wrong and right side. This is one of them. There are many, MANY examples of how gun control doesn't work. You're barking up the wrong tree, because you're just accepting whatever news network you subscribe to's political views because it's easier to accept them and make edgy comments about the US instead of actually being somewhat constructive

Ignore everything I said about my main point about people who clearly don't know how to handle guns and so on. People who have no idea how to use guns keep getting them. People who let their kids play with guns because they're idiots who don't know how to use guns because they don't how to procve they know how to use it. How about treating it like a car and how you have to pass that instead of handing it out like candy.

How many idiots do you see day-to-day driving a car? How can you not see any parallels between car licensing and what you're proposing?
