pressxforsex (05/17/2015) [-] I'm scared of them because of the way they look most of the time. I have my exceptions, though. I have a pet Chilean Rose Hair tarantula that I used to hold here and there, and I love those little jumping spiders. They're neat. Wolf spiders, wandering spiders, hobo spiders, mouse spiders, etc all look (to me) like jagged legged demons straight from the mouth of Hell, and they carry themselves in a way that I find them more threatening than any human (like when the wandering spiders throw their legs up at you) TL;DR Not all spiders are scary, just a lot of them  because the majority of spiders bite, there are a lot of spiders that are poisonous and of those most are lethal. Some spiders have parasitic qualities (laying eggs inside of the body) Its not a completely unjustified fear.  No spider lays eggs in humans. There has been not one death from spider venom in the US for the past 100 years, and only a tiny handful globally caused mostly by allergic reactions rather than venom. You are much more likely to die from allergic reaction to a bee sting. Even with those facts, it doesnt prove that the facts I have are wrong and yes spiders do lay eggs inside of humans, they can lay eggs in open wounds, but any deeper and the eggs won't survive. either way the majority of peoples bodies percieve most spiders as threats  The spiders laying eggs in people is just an urban legend; it doesn't actually happen. And most spiders aren't venomous and pose no threat at all. I have no issue with people being scared of them. but claiming it is because they are a threat is wrong. The fear may be instinctual, but in the modern day it is an irrational instinct. And I am pretty sure the egg thing is just urban myth. Spiders don't even lay eggs in other invertebrates. aye, bot-flies and the idea of things like parasitic worms scare the hell out of me. I never said "are" I said "percieved as" which is a big difference. Its justified as in it isnt technically irrational, its a response that most people don't/can't control Because that is just their response to it. | ||
