i dont understand how you can argue with a definition!! a definition is a fact because it describes something... please explain to me what is so confusing about the definition of sport?

definitions have been changed over time have they not? Those changes didn't take place instantly did they? It isn't the freak magna carta its the internet. if i went to wikipedia and defined " french fry " as a snake with 14 eyeballs and a 20 inch PENIS does that make it true? You put too much faith in someone else's writing and don't use your brain. if you read back through the conversation all you do is duck my responses by changing the subject and make totally stupid claims like the internet is some all knowing self correcting entity.

definitions of sport:

Entertainment; fun

A source of amusement or entertainment

A person who behaves in a good or specified way in response to teasing, defeat, or a similarly trying situation

An animal or plant showing abnormal or striking variation from the parent type, esp. in form or color, as a result of spontaneous mutation

YOU are the one that dodged my question a few posts ago.
you may have defined sport with several definitions but you have to find the CORRECT definition of sport. you are going to serious trouble in life with such an absurd thought process.
im sorry, but i cant stand your stupidity anymore. i tried to have an intelligent, semi-polite conversation before, but you lack the intelligence to do so. this is my final "cya". later.

just as your comment said just because someone said something doesn't make something necessarily true. So why is it that you HAVE to be right? Why can sports not include mental exertion? Just because the person that put that definition on the internet doesn't make them automatically right. Just because it's not written down and readily seen in most society doesn't mean it isn't a sport. This is coming from an all around athlete. Just respect people with a decent opinion. I'm not arguing that basketball, football, etc. aren't sports and you shouldn't be discrediting people for a set of skills just because it isn't written down for you right in your face.

i dont understand why the concept of classification is confusing to you. classification, which is what im doing by saying that poker is not a sport, requires a set of qualities that a particular thing must possess. the sole fact that a sport is defined by physical exertion is certainly enough reason to call something either a sport or not a sport. simple as that. you may have an opinion about this, but that doesnt mean that youre opinion changes such a fact into an untrue statement.

there are different kinds of exertion. physical exertion and mental exertion are totally different. just because one kind of exertion is required to do something like play chess doesnt mean this type of exertion also qualifies as a different kind of exertion.
sports such as football, basketball and soccer are totally different than games such as chess, video games and poker; thinking intuitively and exercising your muscles are similar in no way.

definiton of sport: An activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others.
now, what part of poker fits that definition?
and i do not consider poker a sport because it isnt.. and thats just a basic fact judging by the definition. so how the hell did i fail miserably? nobody "decides" if something is a sport, it just falls under a definition. theres not like a panel of judges that make such a decision, dumbass.
