| For gravity bind, you should really get Power Giant, power him up with horn of the unicorn or something. It makes for a great play. (His effect is you can special summon him from your hand by discarding one level 4 or lower monster, but he loses level equal to the level of the monster you send. He has 2200 attack, so if you beef him up you can get him close to 3k or more, AND have gravity bind at the same time.) And badassified has got to be the best word ever. However, my favorite deck is my Exodia. Sucks that almost all the good cards I used for it are banned, though. Trying to put together a tourny legal one, and so far it's alright...but I want to make it better. Any suggestions? Exodia? Ah, another fun and simple strategy. Load it with cards like Toon Table of Contents, Gather the Mind, and other such cards. Discard them with cards like Dark World Dealings, or send them to the Graveyard with Foolish Burial. Recover them with Dark Factory of Mass Production and Dark Eruption. Use Emissary of the Afterlife with Generation Shift to mass search and pull the normal pieces to the hand. I can't believe I've never put that together. I feel just silly...I had pot of avarice, and dark eruptions etc to get them back from my graveyard, because everyone I've played against thinks that just one card destruction screws me (glad that one's limited, though). On a side note, I've always wanted to use chaos zone with infernal tempest, but I've never had the chance. It just seems like such a "fuck you" combo. Now that I think about it, I want to build a banish deck... Also, thanks for the tips. I'll keep those in mind next paycheck. Yeah, remove from play. They just seem like such fun decks if you run them right. I'm actually going to throw some Limit reverses in my exodia. Forgot that was even a thing. Forgot about sangan, too, using monster reborn, call of the haunted, etc to get him back to get pieces. Can't believe I never thought of it. What kind of remove from play deck do you run? I run a Banisher/Macro Cosmos/Necroface recycle. When I am allowed, I also put Black Luster Soldier: Envoy of the Beginning in so I can use Primal Seeds to recycle my entire deck. One of my longest timed turns in casual play took half an hour, but left me with so many Life Points we lost count, my opponent was decked, had no hand, field, graveyard, or extra deck, I had no hand or graveyard, and he had to lose by drawing a card, because I never attacked him with my Gren Maju Da Eizas who each had a ton of Attack. Good god that not only sounds fun, but brutal. Wish I could build decks like that. Mine has it to a "get fucked multiple times then realize that doesn't work so change one thing and think you're a god" art haha Just found salvage, that's perfect for the deep divers in my exodia. Looking for factory and limit reverse and dark eruption in my thousands of cards now... I'm sticking to a 40 card deck with lots of the cards you listed, no worries. Just want a little twist with mine to make it personal Not when you throw him with destiny board and other instant win cards! I want one of those decks. Damn cards are hard to find here. Funny you should mention that, I'm actually working on one of those burn decks right now. With cards like dice jar (monster, but can be pretty effective), chain energy, ominous fortunetelling, swords of revealing light (which I'm glad is only limited now, I'd rather have one than none), swords of concealing light (which I really wish flipped my monsters too, but meh.) etc etc...I need to find some better cards for it, though Try reflippers, like Medusa Worm, Swarm of Scarabs, and Swarm of Locusts. Or the Reficule variant, one of my personal faves. Using Reficule or Bad Reaction to Simochi, along with cards like Gift Card, Paths of Destiny, and their ilk. Lava Golems with Gravity Bind and Level Limit Area B. Bowganian, Stealth Bird, and other monsters that deal passive damage. Traps that stall attacks like Mirror Force, Scrapiron Scarecrow, and Negate Attack. A solid, simple, yet incredibly devastating deck. Also, summon negate those asinine Synchros and other devastating monsters. God damn I love my scarecrows. One in every deck I own. Used to have 3 in my exodia, and then I found the ban list... Oh, the good times I had.. (However, I would suggest using a level 3 monster so Goblin Fan doesn't screw you.) #25

flawlessfail (02/03/2013) [-] Not everyone has as low as standards as you. And for your information, I'm in college. I go to ITT Technical Institute. I'm getting a masters degree in Digital Entertainment and Game Design. AND might i add, I have a lovely girlfriend of 2 years. Considering this isn't even a fraction of what you can say for yourself, keep quite. And why judge people for things they enjoy? You say it's for children. Well, it might have been directed to children, but why should that stop anyone of any age of enjoying it? Take My Little Pony for example, I despise that show, but I don't judge the people who like it. Or trying to get an education. But what you said is pretty important too. | ||

| Anonymous has it pretty down pat here. YGO has a massive amount of strategy, and gains more each new series. Quick and efficient decks with a multitude of strategies interwoven into each is better than the MTG's whole thing about having the right cards at hand. YGO's well made decks have a counter and counter to that counter being countered. What anon doesn't know is that, 60 card deck to any size deck you like after it, wrong. In pro play the most and minimum card deck you can get is 60. However it is true that in MTG some cards are needed for specific decks. He is lying if he won 95% due to mono-green deathtouch creatures. that is almost a lose. If he went up against pro decks using that he will get absolutely decimated, as no pro deck runs mono green let alone using death touch. To my knowledge the only viable mono colours of MTG are black and red. MTG has a lot of counters as well. Due to the land style of MTG you need more strategy to decide to get what lands out etc as lands can turn into creatures for a cost. Question: do you play MTG? Yes, I have played MTG. I also know that he is pretty much bullshitting on the win lose record of his, as such decks rarely work. I usually use a blue/white deck or a slivers deck. The fact that you need certain cards to make your deck viable is the main problem. It means your entire deck works off that one single card being there or not, unlike YGO, where you can simply use your brain to find a way around it. For example, I will use an OLD strategy, known as Yatalock. It uses a card known as Chaos Emperor Dragon to nuke the hand and field, included a Sangan or Witch of the Black Forest. That Sangan or Witch will search the deck for Yata-Garasu, a monster with the ability to stop the enemies draw phase. Thanks to Chaos Dragon, they would have absolutely no defense left, and be forced to forfeit. So Konami banned Chaos Dragon and Witch of the Black Forest. Sangan stayed merely because most monsters it targeted were weak, and without Chaos nuking everything, he wasn't as threatening. That is, until Demise, King of Armageddon came along. He could pay 2000 Life Points to nuke the field. But since he couldn't nuke the hand, it takes a bit more finesse, as you need to use a Morphing Jar + Protector of the Sanctuary. Morphing Jar discards the entire hand and draws five cards for each player. Protector stops the opponent drawing outside draw phase, leaving them empty handed. Demise nukes everything afterwards, including Sangan, who gets Yata-Garasu. Boom, over and done. So Yata finally got banned from tournaments. There are still methods without Yata that pull similar winning strategies, however. TL;DR: YGO evolves its decks to meet the current ban list and constantly keeps its players thinking, whereas MTG simply adds new stand-alones and makes the rarer cards the only good cards. Lately Wizards of the Coast have been cocking up standard and are starting to ban OP cards such as Blood Braid Elf, so modern for MTG is changing. Guess we could say both are strategic in there own way. I don't really know much of YGO so i can't talk too much on that, though my friend has played it and said it isn't as strategic. So off of that i took his word. Also revolving a deck around one win con, doesn't usually work anymore, you have to have multiple now. Also the hate against graveyard has risen quite a bit so no more re-animator decks. Btw i hate white/blue after a friend made one, he ran 4 sphere of safety's and a bunch of enchantments. Haha, yeah, I suppose they are differently strategic. I just personally find that YGO makes me use my brain more when constructing. I find that some of my best decks are flawed if I change even one card, as it often interrupts the flow of my different strategies. As in regards to your friend who played, I think he might have been a casual. Some of the strategies are pre made for new people, and their strategies are laughingly simple and easy to destroy. But for newbs, they seem to be well made already. The easier it is to stop thinking, the less strategic it seems. #53

N. Korean citizen (02/03/2013) [-] I play both, but I feel that Yu-Gi-Oh does require much more strategy. YGO requires a minimum of 40 cards per deck and a maximum of 60. MTG requires a minimum of 60 with no card limit. I always like to explains this using the law of the conservation of energy and momentum, in YGO you try your best to eliminate factors that would otherwise screw up your initial stratagy, by running the minimum amount of cards, and running the right cards. This provides a reduction is useless draws/turns, thusly, trying to conserve as much as possible, without anything dissipating as a faulty draw or sheer stupidity. MTG however, with the whole land system, makes an uneven playing field, plus some cards abilities are just way too cheap, I run an all green deck, and deathtouch is honestly how I win so many games. I've won 95% of my MTG games because I just spam lands and summon creatures. I've won maybe 70% of my YGO duels because stratagy plays such an important role. Plus there's also avalibility of the cards, Konami reprints a lot of their cards, so patient players can get the cards they want, for cheaper. MTG has cards worth $3500, and those cards are usually essential to a winning deck (i.e Black Lotus). YGO wins there just for not being total dicks. I'm 19 and play with my friends every weekend. We keep saying that if they did have those arenas, the rules might be changed drastically. (for instance, when Yugi uses his giant soldier of stone to attack to the moon field spell card. You can't just do that without a card that says you can - which, there is actually a card for that called "Attack the Moon!". I laughed and bought it when I saw it.) #20
