I am so fucking with you, oh my god. Nowadays people on FJ just remind me of this one friend of mine who is just critical about everything. He has to be so literal, and he goes around picking fights with everyone. It's not even really the people saying "don't call HIM beautiful" it's the people cracking jokes and being judgemental pricks, saying that we shouldn't encourage being yourself. This site just fucking reeks with hate and intolerance, and honestly I'm sort of at the breaking point too.

See, I would be perfectly fine if the jokes weren't extremely rude and derogatory.

Shut up, faggot.

See, either you can get offended or not, it's your choice. Suffice to say, if that's your attitude then you don't belong here.

But if it's my choice to breathe fresh air, then shouldn't I be allowed to breathe fresh air? If their smoking prevents me from doing that shouldn't they stop?

See where I'm going with this? "Rights" are so arbitrary
User avatar #264 - noblexfenrir (01/19/2014) [-]
If you can prove that them smoking is an open environment and not blowing smoke directly into your face actually affects you negatively in any way other than simply "I don't like them doing that" then sure, otherwise sorry you have no case.
User avatar #267 - ScottP (01/19/2014) [-]
Recent studies from the University of Harvard by professor Albert Wylok have shown conclusive evidence that people smoking in an open environment is in fact very inconvenient for non-smokers. Not only is the smell terribly inconvenient, it also turns the immediate airspace a slight tinge of black (Wylok, 2005)

User avatar #271 - noblexfenrir (01/19/2014) [-]
Mind actually linking to the study? Can't seem to find it.

Either way though, in an open environment (or in a case that a business owner allows smoking in the building. Which even then, does not support the hypothesis that it carries negative health benefits, so people who push for no smoking inside have no grounds in this area.) smell isn't really the persons concern, as it isn't affecting in such a way that harms them. It's simply something they don't like.

" turns the immediate airspace a slight tinge of black"
Until I see the actual study if you can provide it, the word "immediate" is the main thing I'm looking at.
User avatar #273 - ScottP (01/19/2014) [-]
I was actually just messing with you. Albert Wylok isn't real and as far as I know there are mixed professional opinions on the effects of second-hand smoke, though I don't care enough to research it at the moment.
User avatar #274 - noblexfenrir (01/19/2014) [-]
Welp jokes on me for actually looking for such a study lol. I actually tried decently hard sadly enough.
User avatar #254 - tkfourtwoone (01/19/2014) [-]
" If their smoking prevents me from doing that shouldn't they stop? "

And here's the whole thing about it: people smoking DO NOT prevent you from breathing fresh air. MILLIONS OF CARS in cities deny fresh air, yet you don't seem to be bitching about that.

Try using the same argument for people being fat. No problems with smoking, just saying.

Citing a source isn't proving your point. You gotta have some experience to see whats going on here. I've worked on many professional sets and I myself as the director of some of these productions would ask for an ambience track recording in a shot. So I can use that as a background ambience track. I would direct some extras to not make noise at all and continue acting. Yes sound is added at the end but what you're seeing here is a shot used for recording sound WITH acting. Probably done 2-3 times to get the shot done correctly. And before the director calls cut he lets sound record for a minute or two. and have the actors continue acting.

While I'm focusing more on music, I did go through an extensive tour and got to look at their professional post production studio they use, and I've got some friends who are going for working on sound for film and related stuff, so the link wasn't to be an end all argument, just that sound is added at the end. Other than that I don't know much about it.

True, most of the noise in films is edited afterwards.

A lot of dialogue, pretty much most sound effects and the majority of ambient noise are edited up, either from the audio when filming or re-recorded entirely and added to the film in post production

You just went full retard.
User avatar #19 - flannelbastard (11/20/2013) [-]
Here you go
www.filmsound.org/synctanks/

Dialogue is usually just cleaned up(although many directors prefer redoing it post production), but for the most part, sound effects and such are done in post production.
Really the only thing I might have went full retard on is that the guy above me was just joking.
