If I tell you I'm going to burn your house down, that's a threat, which is plausible evidence in law. If I come near your house suggestively shaking a gas can empty or full, and rolling a lighter with no flint in it, it would constitute nothing but incompetence in using lighters and a capability to carry gas cans. | It's actually a lot more simple than that (though you were correct). A baseball bat is actually considered a lethal weapon. They treat it the same way as an unregistered firearm in your trunk- except the registration in this case would be a baseball glove. TL;DR the baseball glove gives you apt excuse for having a baseball bat. You ain't gotta explain shit, you play baseball.
