No that is not true. You get cards either A) by luck which does happen, or B) by crafting.
So if you play eventually you will get good cards, or you reforge them into the cards you want. You can 100% play the game and get awesome cards without having to pay a dime.

I got a GOLD KING MUKLAH, in a standard card pack from watching a friend win a game. I did not pay for it.

What did I do with it? I broke it down into dust and bought a different legendary with the dust.

On top of that if youre good enough then you play the arena with your spare gold. If you good enough to be able to get 7-8 wins, you are refunded your arena cost and get a good card and card pack. But it requires skill.

Actually you are missing out. You complain about the grind being too hard, when the entire game is accessible to play with only aesthetic features being held back. The game gets far more rewarding the longer you play because your unique strategies develop from the style that you work with. The game is only a grind IF you try and make money by playing when you do not have any available quests, quests are the quickest and easiest way to make tons of money, but you get one a day. They are not always 40g sometimes they are 60g and occasionally they are 100g. The game is RNG based and is a massive base of players. So if Blizzard decided to pander to you, and give you all the legendaries that are available the game wouldn't be fun. Now this game is FREE TO PLAY, meaning YOUR CHEAP ASS CAN SHUT THE FUCK UP. They make no money on a game like this unless people pay to unlock stuff or they put up ads. They have ZERO ads, and the fee to play it is ZERO, so dont be surprised if you want to take the short route that it is going to be a premium. I have only spent money once on it, and that was to unlock part of Naxrammus because it does take a long time to unlock and I cut the price by unlocking 3 floors via in game money.

I really enjoy the game because it rewards creativity and is satisfying once you start finding or building the cards that you want. Right now I have a bomb ass late game balanced Priest deck that I made myself with some choice late game legendaries that I got or created through playing the game and enjoying it.

So, in conclusion, you really need to shut the fuck up when you play a game that was originally for the computer (free to play there too), adapted to phones (still free to play), adless on phones, and 98% completely accessible to free to play players (the 2% is just aesthetics that provide NO advantage in gameplay). So dont call players in hearthstone pay to play players, most of them probably (like me) just play a few games every day to complete quests and amass gold. But we operate on the same RNG principles that everyone does.
