So I'm just gonna point out that you are getting thumbed up for a statement that has been proven wrong in at least 3 different comments here.

leonhardt is right. Water is naturally slightly blue, but you need a very large quantity to notice the color. Like in the ocean.
www.dartmouth.edu/~etrnsfer/water.htm

Algae and stuff can affect the apparent color of water, though.

So then why is water not gray on a cloudy day?

Water is blue. Water molecules reflect blue light. Same way air particles do.
The small bit in your glass or the small bit you hold your primitive fire stick to at the beach aren't enough to reflect it strongly enough.

Downvotes are bad. Information is correct. Wikipedia corroborates.

**Elk used "*roll picture*"**
**Elk rolled image** I think that it's the way that he made it sound like water is as blue as this thing that I just rolled. I really wouldn't say that a slight tint should determine its color when it's pretty clear in general.

we were talking about the ocean...a massive body of water and why its blue
its blue because its reflecting the sunlight, thats correct
water is blue, thats also correct
these 2 things are the same, but people make drama for bullshit

Er, the whole thing started because of a bath tub full of water. I understand that you're right overall, but I find it silly to look at a bathtub and say that that water is blue when I can see white at the bottom.

dunno...matters on the light i guess
i think ive seen the water in my bath tub both blue and not. ofc i can remember wrong, but pools for example are blue too and they are not thaaaat huge either. and they are really clearly blue.
dunno...

The post he was replying to states that water is clear in every situation. As other people have said, that's wrong. Plus they got upvoted. Maybe people don't like him.

I had a dream recently where I was in my room, and for some reason there was a frog chilling in a rectangular floor level cubbyhole under my bed. Then some big praying mantis with its back flat to the ground with a snail shell on it was crawling towards the frog. I picked up some mini clocktower box thing and threw it at the mantis. The thing ran and I followed. I smashed it with the clocktower and looked at the box for any squished remains. Either due to presence of a live one, or no remains I flipped my shit and threw the box in the hall. I don't remember much from there, but I remember returning to my room and seeing frogbro on my curtain.

some people will swear that dreams are very symbolistic but i just had a dream last week where me and my gf were driving and i ran over a cat, so obviously i pulled over ran back to it and VERY vividly saw a have smushed cat, the head was intact and it was giving off a faint meow, even in the dream i was freaking the fuck out sobbing and shit. wtf brain.

A little more clarification on the reason why firearms are so ardently defended. I apologize if I got carried away. I feel context is needed for non-americans as I see it all the time here.

Our gun culture reaches all the way back to the founding of our country through gaining independence from Britain. We didn't have a dedicated army back then and even for many decades after that. The individual citizens kept their own weapons and formed a militia when called upon, using the firearms they possessed. The 2nd ammendment is enshrined in our Constitution for the purpose of demonstrating that owning a firearm is a right of the individual to defend one's life, property, and family. Furthermore, to defend the country from threats foreign and domestic. Many of my fellow countrymen, including myself, take the founder's musings and philosophies very seriously. You see, they feared being forced back under the yoke of a foreign oppressor (i.e. the British crown). They also considered, while penning our constitution, the threat of corruption within our own government and stressed the importance of the people being armed to regain control should it be necessary.

That sounds pretty straight forward and I kinda understand it better now. It's nice to have a reply that not 500 red thumbs and "fuck you don't take mah guns" cheers man
