I agree they have a place in the industry, but would it be so much to ask for a game where you are a ghost and the whole point of the game is to terrify and kill people, while avoiding the Ghostbusters and Priests? My problem is that they're becoming a default position for triple A game developers, when we would have awesomely unique games all the time.

No, I'm saying they'll never hold a candle to the likes of Skyrim, Metroid Prime, Half Life, Warcraft III, Painkiller etc. Plus the claim of "realism" is so laughingly false it borders on the offensive. To paraphrase Yahtzee: a realistic war shooter would have it so you get shot, laid up in hospital for 6 months, and sent home, preceded by 8 months of rigorous excersize with people you're explicitly not to have sex with.

although you have a point, videogames have to find that border of making a game realistic and fun at the same time. I think the bad company and bf series does just that.
