they used the gay marriage debate as a distraction to sign an Act that allows companies that create GMO foods to do so without any government intervention and give it to the US population without the government being able to halt it if its found that any of their products cause harm to Humans ingesting them.

you're the leader of the free world
you're given two options, shut down the government, putting thousands out of jobs, crippling the economy and our fiscal responsibilities globally, possibly putting us into an even greater recession. or worry about GMO food, a topic very few are aware of or much less care about. but could possibly harm our food industry some 10 years from now.
just saying, it isn't always that fucking easy.

If your saying Finding a new way to fix a crippling economy which is in much more need of reform than pushing more money into it to try and keep the very unstable government for toppling over intil next year
Or poisoning my people.
Id choose the one that resulted in a long over due reform of the way the government is handled. other than bending over and sucking the cock of the corporations causing the the unstable government in the first place

GMO food has been around for /ages/. and it's less Monsantos fault than it is an industry with creatons who buy double ultra fat cheeseburgers with extra blooming fried onions ontop.
we live in a nation of excess and major businesses respond to this demand with new ways to develop food faster, cheaper, and in greater quantity. you want them to stop making GMOs? stop getting the super sized fries at mcdonalds.
we'll never be free of perversion and corruption unless we purify it of ourselves, one person at a time.

I'm just saying, the only way to stop businesses is demand. lack of demand = lack of profit. Monsanto would be out of business if we weren't a country of over-eating, self indulging fuck monkeys.
we have nobody to blame but ourselves for things like Monsanto, ain't 'Bamas fault.

If your not going to hold your government at least a little bit responsible for what goes on within its own borders than i feel sorry for you.
2 things the public you seem to think are so bad demand.
1. for the government to force companies to label products that use GMO's
2. for the government to stop bending over to companies that use GMO products....
Oh and when it comes to mr.obama. One of his orginal promises before he was elected the first time was to accomplish that first objective
