You know. Roughly same time of origin, typically meaningful lyrics with a "break of conformity" message, often times has the same kind of beat. Not to mention the super personal fashion senses that stemmed from both of them. There are other reasons as well for why I think they're related but this is my second all nighter in a row. Sorry man. x)

DId 15 seconds of typing and lookign on wikipedia.

Ska was created in 1950 jamaica

Punk was created in 1974.

If we are talking history of music then this is a so long time gap as the Roman empire and Napoleon.
User avatar #30 - groulgarigon (10/16/2014) [-]
That's blowing things a bit out of proportion. But to be honest I don't really care about point of origin. I was talking about the ska that I listen to. Which is a derivative of punk. Bands like Reel Big Fish, Less than Jake, and Streetlight Manifesto.

The ska you're referring to is a derivative of Reggae, which did originate in Jamaica.

If you just had said that you were listening to a specific part of the ska then it would have saved us both some time.

Goodbye.

I did just fell of the wagon here.

How are they even closely related?

I'll tell you as my grandfather told me:
"When my man and I were preparing for going to the front.
The high command said they will call a priest to bless our weapons.
When he finished blessing the guns he started a prayer.
He said that we have to kill all the enemy's who want to invade our land.
(They were defending the land from the Italy army so basically the country of catholic church.)
From that day on, I wont go to the church even if the popes kisses my ass"

try Victoria 2.
Played as US, Britain declared war. They needed 15 victory points.
Had only one. Immediately demanded I surrender. Fuck no.
Beat them back. Hard. War turned into my favor. They wanted a white peace.
WHAT? Demand land in Canada from them.
eventually; we made a white peace. nobody won, but at least they lost face.

start a great war. every country I'm fighting wants me to surrender. even if we haven't really fought yet. send armies their way. "pls no more. white peace." conquer their territories. "you won! we surrender." Fuck no. demand land. fuck yes. Goes like that every time.

you know what's fun? after you lose a great war; you lose your armies and you aren't allowed to build any armies.
when other countries surrender; the first thing they do is build armies.
something I can't do when I lose.
I mean, they LOST the war. They're breaking the treaty and shit.

and yeah, you're right.
they have the best diplomacy out there.
it's just fucked up how (as explained earlier) the AI doesn't need to play by the rules.

fuck.
I really want to play Hearts of Iron now.
it's a bit similar to Vicky. but different.

#131 - trevanman (10/17/2014) [-]
there's the "trucebreaker"-thingy.
let's say I start a war against the sultan of egypt and beat him up good. he'll surrender. we cool and all. though he is probably pissed at me taking his land. BUT we have a truce.

then I immediately decide the persians need a good facewrecking. so I stomp them into pulp. everything is going good. and then egypt joins in. before my truce with them ends.

the egyptian sultan doesn't get trucebreaker, even though he has a truce with me and just broke it.
User avatar #132 - felixjarl (10/17/2014) [-]
I disagree. it is perfectly rational.
#133 - trevanman (10/17/2014) [-]
But....
he's breaking a truce.
if I did that, I'd get trucebreaker.
how is that rational?
User avatar #134 - felixjarl (10/17/2014) [-]
Because banning them from helping their allies would beak the game.
#135 - trevanman (10/17/2014) [-]
that's the fun thing.
they're not allies.
they're the same religion.

and how would that break the game?
it's still truce breaking.
if I get bad traits because of it, then so should they.

not like it matters. I conquer their asses anyways

Australia and Greenland seem independent as well, just not labeled. and "United States of North American Continent" makes it seem like the US took over Canada and Mexico, unless you want to say that the USA doesn't count as an independent nation because it's made up of multiple states, in which case news flash: so is Japan.
User avatar #71 - feelythefeel (09/30/2014) [-]
To be honest, the Federal Republics of the Soviet is literally another name for the USSR, so technically he USSR is independent too.

You know, I thought about that after I commented it, but I thought that might be overkill. I already used "of" once, twice in the same line might be too much.
User avatar #29 - felixjarl (09/29/2014) [-]
In my oppinion ''be of'' is a inferior sentence to ''are of''

Since you only got one ''of'' in your sentence. why not replace it there?
