 So comedies? Plus the cartoons on Disney. What a diverse amount of material. You must think Bollywood shouldn't be separated either. The whole point of making subsections is to help categorize them so that it's easier to find more material similar to other things you like. I don't want to ask for something similar to From the New World and get a Pixar film. It's not to put on or the other on a pedestal, just classifying based on distinct characteristics. then why is there a special name for cartoons made in Japan but not ones made in New Zealand? Or Belgium? Or Mongolia? Or Russia? Why only Japan? Why is weeaboo culture a thing? Why isn't there a word for people who pretend to be French and only consume French culture? It is because the neckbeard fascination with all things Japanese is an escapist and elitist mentality that narrows ones horizons instead of broadening them. You may think to yourself "gee, I'm really cultured because I watch tons of Japanese cartoons and read Japanese comics!" but what you're really saying is "if it's not made in Japan, I don't want nothing to do with it". And it's absolute bullshit! And giving Japanese cartoons their own special name only worsens that elitist/separatist/escapist mentality. I'm pretty sure if you spend > 500 on one purchase and then > 500 on another purchase within 10 minutes your card will get flagged and you may even get a call from the company. It has happened to me: I paid for a meal in a foreign country or something and right afterward got a call. "Did you know your card was just used to pay 250€?" "Yeah, I'm in France right now and just paid for a meal for 5 people, but thanks for the heads up!" #9 -
