Marriage nowadays is a display of commitment.
Although being married doesn't make you a good parent I would say more married couples are better parents than unmarried ones.
Unmarried ones tend to get bored and leave after a while.

His genre may not be your thing, maybe. but that doesnt mean the music he makes is bad

Nothing is "bad", everything like that is subjective, but if you've listened to more music than just what they play on the radio, you realize that it's generic and unoriginal.

This may not mean a lot to most people, but for the people who can hear that shit, it means that every song he makes is just the same constant droning you've heard before in other songs.

Pretty much
The other side is trying to not let us live and let live. They're pushing for a world where we're not free to agree "Being fat is bad" but quite the opposite. It's a personal and selfish agenda.
I tend to liken it to the trans movement. If you made the choices to go through chemical therapy and cosmetic surgery to closer look like your perceived gender, cool. Don't force me to alter my reality for your perceived one. Don't try and make other people bend over to conform to your issues and support you in them.
Everyone has problems. It's when we deny and try to flip them into something positive that you'll see a backlash.
User avatar
#79 - bobthecrop (12/31/2015) [-]
Trans movement? Sorry for getting a bit PC on you here, I know that it has no place on FJ. But being transgender is not a "perceived" reality. When you're in mommy's womb there's shit firing off everywhere and creating life. Being transgender can literally be traced to the brain, there is such a thing as physical and mental gender, both are determined at birth. Being transgender is based on shit firing off and creating the mental and neural pathways alike that of one gender, while something else makes sure you're the other gender physically.

TL;DR: Being transgender is not a "perceived fantasy" of any sort, it's as natural a thing as being tall or short.
User avatar
#144 - payseht (12/31/2015) [-]
I was being short handed there, but yes. Everything you said I agree with and have a problem with people that don't understand those things.
What I have a different problem is are people who both know this and then continue to mutilate their bodies for it.
It's not normal or healthy to be born in a different body than you honestly feel you should. I get that. What I don't get is understanding the limitations of modern science to fix that. Short answer is we can't. If at any point down the line we can, of course, do that, but until then you're trying to change aesthetic things, skin deep things.
Instead of letting this perceived reality harm the individual and try to mass indoctrinated everyone else, why not help them cope with it? Congratulations, first of all, you've discovered what has had a huge negative impact in your life. Some of us aren't so lucky. Now, let's see how we can help you understand and integrate you properly within society and-- or you can just cut off your dick and have an implant... sure, that works...

It's not transgenders I have issues with. I get and support having some mental issues, which is to say it's okay to have them but recognize them as such. When you take them to extremes like surgery, that's when I think we're doing more harm than good. Then taking an even bigger step and redefining terms to fit yours, uhm, maybe it's not us but you...

Learn to understand and cope, not be cuddled and have everyone re-learn that a penis can sometimes be a vagina...
User avatar
#147 - bobthecrop (12/31/2015) [-]
Well, there is such a thing as vaginoplasty. Medical science has gotten to a point where you can transition men to women and women to men... Even halfway if that's what you want... And physical attributes can be just as important as anything mental y'know. To be able to look yourself in the mirror and saying: "I'm a woman" or "I'm a man" and looking like it too.

The physical looks are also extremely therapeutic y'know. There's more to the whole thing than just "skin-deep" things. But if you're not transgender it can be very hard to understand.
User avatar
#149 - payseht (12/31/2015) [-]
Well, I tend to associate them with my own, personal, mental issues and it becomes easier to understand.
Maybe that's why I get and support it, up to the point where the issue becomes disillusion and you think you're actually a different sex, not gender, and force other people to do so as well.
If you have this, I am very sorry, but feeding this problem is no solution. Learn to love the body that was given to you. We laugh at the Barbie chick for wanting to be more like something she's not, but when someone was born with mismatching gender and sex we bend over backwards to accept it. We accept you. What we shouldn't accept is you thinking that somehow you can modify something DNA deep about yourself.
At least not just yet. If we ever get to where this shit is possible, fuck yeah, go for it! But as far as I know, the changes are skin deep, and what you're doing is not helping but enabling a problem.
User avatar
#168 - bobthecrop (12/31/2015) [-]
But it's DNA that neurologically makes them the opposite gender mentally than physically. The disillusion is seeing them as the gender they're not. Being transgender and accepting someone as a different gender is nothing like fat acceptance. It's not crammed down your throats, it's what they actually are. We have the technology to perform really succesful sex change therapy where you basically can't see the person in question used to be a man or used to be a woman.

You cannot compare a transgender person to that barbie chick. We SHOULD accept that they are a different gender and that they deserve the right to change their sex to effectively show off their gender, if that's what they want.

Holy FUCK I sound like an SJW, but I still believe this. You're not "feeding" a problem by referring to a transgender person by their mental gender nor by supporting sex-change operations, you're helping them. It's not a problem, it's actual help. If the person in question wishes to have a sex-change that should be supported, if not then that should be supported too. You should not teach a transgender person to accept that "you're born looking like a chick, so stay one." when there's literally the means to change it. To a transgender person sex-change can be as important a surgery as a skin transplant after getting severe burns. Some can live with the looks, some can't.
User avatar
#232 - payseht (12/31/2015) [-]
I agree with almost everything you say.
The line I want drawn is cosmetic surgery. At this point, you're mutilating your genitals to resemble something they aren't (among, obviously, other massive changes)
All of this is skin deep.
They are not changing their sex, they are changing their appearance.
When and if science is developed far enough to actually change a person's biological sex, of course I'm all up in that shit. Go for it! You have the means now to be happy and I'd be a dickhead to oppose that.
Sadly, we are NOT there yet, and pretending we are is feeding a bad line of reasoning and actions.
Some gender swapping operations are vastly better than others, but the seamless ones are in a very small minority. All you're doing is pushing them to be targeted by other people (which in a perfect world that we don't live in wouldn't be an issue) and encouraging a change that will transform them from a stable outward sexual appearance, to a negative one.
I'm not saying "Accept who you are and grow up" but "Accept who you are and don't go to unhealthy extremes to do so"

And I think it only sounds like SJW when nothing's backed up by facts but instead only emotion. I think we both did a pretty good job of avoiding the latter, though I can get pretty passionate about the topic since it's pretty much the only one I don't agree with within my circles.

Neue LP hier: www.colouringbookmusic.com
