As some one who has been on both sides of that matchup many times. Really that was a deck that had a ton of play to it. It truly exemplified Black's "High power High Cost" Nature. It had lines of play designed for each matchup and it was truly a great deck. I think the problem that created mono black was simply because wizards printed a certain under-costed, hard to answer threat...

Thassa....magnificent. Though my name bears my favorite god, Thassa is probably the most playable. So cheap. Scrying 1 each turn before the draw can't be discounted. And the fact that when you turn her into a creature, she can make herself unblockable and hit for 5 each turn is just devastating. 5/5

There is no probably to it, She was the pillar of arguably the best deck in RTR/THS block standard. The deck took three slots in the top 8 of pro tour theros and would end up being first and second. Mono black devotion was only created as a reaction to the tempo madness of mono blue. Certain developers have stated it is clear that making her a 5/5 was just one push too far. So yeah she is insane.

The only thing I don't like about her is her name. I wish it was goddess instead of god. They can keep the subtype but I would prefer Pharika, Karametra, Ephara, and Nylea were named goddesses.
I know there probably wasn't enough room on the card but i would like it more

WOTC is careful about cards and gender these days they didn't want the headache

besides it is more intuitive in the rules text with gender neutral titles

Where do you live that roving gangs of dogs go around attacking people?

South Dakota in the black hills both dogs were very well cared for by loving owners. However they were still vicious. They got out of their fences when it snowed alot they would jump over them.
