hey man, I wanted to thank you for posting content. I looked over your profile. Although this is a copy and paste message, I wanted to say I appreciate you contributing to FJ.

FJ got hit hard with a lot of downtime recently. I'm working hard to improve the site, adding new features (mp4s, webms, and GIFs in comments, new comment features, etc) and trying to make the site better for mobile.

Can you keep posting on the site? That would mean a lot to me. Thanks.

I'm a Digital Compositor. I'm the guy who takes all the elements, such as live action plates, CGI, smokes, dust, and puts them all together into a final image sequence.

Sounds like fun work. What kinds of software are you "tools of the trade"?

Do you work exclusively with video, or do you also do graphical work on still-images, such as I do with photoshop (but to a great degree)

I have a demo reel but I need to update it with some new stuff. I'll be happy to share it once I put the new stuff in, probably in a month or two.

We use this software called Nuke. It's like After Effects but on steroids, with a 3D environment what was designed specifically for film. So we work on image sequences for the most part. We don't really use Photoshop on our end of things. That's usually Matte Painting, or maybe texture department.

I kinda fell into VFX completely by accident. I happened to know this one piece of software. This company needed a guy. My friend worked at the company. 12 years later I ended up working in London. True story.

Well I'm a commission artist it compensates for my lack of drawing skills so I pay people to do it for me I know lazy but hey...the actual artists seem to appreciate it.
