godloveseveryone (11/29/2015) [-] Uh, every single new book I've anticipated (and all of the twilight books for my "sister.") were in our library the week after they were released.  You are wrong. Libraries have access to books at the same time bookstores do. In compensation however, they do pay money to the authors. Because nearly everywhere libraries are government institutions, this means the local government will pay a sum of money to the author/publisher.  So does the government pay the author in accordance to its rating/popularity in loans? How does it work? It's very complicated. In my country (Belgium) it's pretty much a patchwork arrangement where the government pools together a sum of money based on the amount of library members and then divvies it up according to populairty estimates. #5 -
