no the fuck it is not! how the hell is magic complicated? i learned the shit back in 5th grade! i was drugged out of my fucking mind and i picked up on that shit! yugioh's rules make no god damned sense! i have seen more matches stop because of confusion than because of loss or victory. i have dealt with both, and you simply aren't going to convince me that yugioh is a simpiler game

magic is simple as it gets, and yugioh confuses me to no fucking end. you can follow rules and still cheat in yugioh. all rules are set in stone with magic, there is no "well, this rule only applies if this happens or that or whatever" not with fuckin magic. it is either yes, or no. end o fuckin story.
User avatar #35 - ewowo (03/22/2014) [-]
Hey I'm sorry if I upset you, but hwat you say is just not true.
I'll tell you how it is.
Yu-gi-oh rules are simple, but they're bad, they have tons of loopholes, requiring judges to often call an interaction on the spot.

Magic rules cover MOST interactions, there all still things that don't quite work out, I won't go into those.
Because magic rules have to cover over 20 years of card design, they are IMMENSELY complicated.

TL;DR Magic is more complicated, but still better.

the banlists are mostly "over used"cards like exodia and that shit. as far as rules, are u stoned dude? i can't make fuking heads or tils of yugioh anymore! synchro summons, chain effects, you can fill your field in one fucking turn now! talk about fuckin game breaking!

>Synchro Summons
These are a really simple concept. The cards pretty much tell you how to do it. Take Stardust Dragon, the most famous Synchro, probably. It says you need a "1 Tuner + 1 or more Non-Tuner Monsters." So just summon your Tuner and Nontuners. Then, add the levels. How many does it add up to? If it adds up to 8, which is the level of Stardust Dragon, then you can summon it by sending the monsters you used to the graveyard or banish zone.

>Chain Effects
If you can't handle something as incredibly simple as "Chaining," then I have bad news for you. All effects, unless they state that other effects cannot be activated in response, are Chain Effects. Chains are just a series of effects and the order they play out. Say I attack you directly with my monster. You respond with Mirror Force. That becomes Chain 1. I respond with Trap Jammer. That becomes Chain 2. You respond with Dark Bribe. That becomes Chain 3. I have nothing else to respond with, so the Chain starts resolving, starting with Chain 3, which negates my Trap Jammer. Since my Trap Jammer is negated, Chain 2 cannot go through, and therefore it skips to Chain 1, allowing your Mirror Force to destroy all of my face-up attack position monsters.
Granted, there are only certain effects that can be activated as a Chain Response, such as Trap Cards, Quick-Play Spells, and certain Monster and Field Effects.

>Fill your entire field in one turn now
You've always been able to do this if you play your hand correctly. But this isn't just something that only YGO does. Magic does it all the same, I've seen it happen plenty of times. It's a tactic called "Swarming," you've probably heard of it, if you've been playing since 7.

Magic has 20 years of rules baggage and there's some seriously smelly shit in there, notoriously the humility-opalescence interaction and such.

That being said, yu-gi-oh card design is not nearly as well-planned as magic so they have to have ginormous banlists.

In fairness, it is brown and yellow, the colour of ground and electric, rather than blue
