While he is stupid dday was kinda a failure, because radar was a new invention bomber crews didn't trust it and the sky was too cloudy to see the ground. Because bombers did not want to hit allied ships, they waited several seconds after radar showed where enemy positions were, (which were where they were) and ended up missing their targets completely.

That's a fair point, though I'd argue that that's a specific failure on the bombers' part; D-Day itself was not a failure, and it was certainly not a 'retarded tactic choice'.

Given their choices they did a pretty good job, cruise missiles and such weren't around (at least the allies didn't have have them) the Germans had v2 rockets
