I don't know why I can't see this week's articles so I can only assume it's a clickbait title.
What I think they mean by that, and this is pure assumption, is that what we're "seeing" as black holes isn't quite how a black hole looks like. By hologram they mean pretty much a mirage, where the object you're looking at isn't actually there.
Look, it's hard to explain... black holes appear to be higher dimensional object manifesting themselves in a lower dimension, like a sphere passing through a 2D world is circle that gets bigger then smaller with time.
Their phrasing might just be clickbaity because I've been hearing something similar for years so I can only assume they're talking about that

1. A Black hole is just the area around the singularity at which the escape velocity is > the speed of light. It has a finite mass and symmetric gravitational pull at any range from the singularity, this excludes the singularity at it's center
2. It's actually just a specific type of blackhole that could possibly be a 2D projection, a schwarzschild black hole, a non rotating black hole,
Now consider this: Light... moving at the speed of light directly into the center of the black hole gets to the schwarzschild radius (the actual black hole, the black part), how fast is the light moving now in our frame of reference? From someone IN THE BLACK HOLE at an angle to the path of the light?
Luckily for us gravity increases the energy of light but cannot increase it's speed so the light hits the event horizon and disappears (the light reaches 0 energy trying to get out of the blackhole before we can observe it)
However, when IN the black hole, at some angle between you and the light, (with the singularity as the focal point), the light hits the event horizon but DOESN'T DISAPPEAR because it's perfectly possible for light to travel in a non direct line to the singularity, this occurs at every angle from 0-90 degrees between you and the light because at over 90 degrees the light would in returning path around the event horizon and return from the event horizon, this simply doesn't happen.
This "un light slingshotable" feature of the black hole means that it may not be three dimensional as there is no way for something to pass through any of it's axial planes.
TL;DR it's possible to escape a non-dominant body in space non-dominant would be like escaping the earth to be in the sun's orbit, escaping the moon to be in the earth's orbit with an orbit like the pic, except through a black-hole.

Most people don't realize that there are multiple types of black hole, because most of us would never need to know such things. But, more knowledge is always good, and you've said it better than I could. I'm just a neuroscientist, my knowledge of astrophysical phenomena is relatively superficial.

awh fuck, I mean "a symmetric gravitational pull at a singular range from the singularity" on the first line, but I trust you already know how gravitational fields work. It's just a strong one.
