Actually, melee weapons kill far faster than most guns. Guns you're supposed to aim for the central mass. A punctured lung would take hours to just maybe kill somebody. Melee gives you just as much internal bleeding, if not more, only far more accurate and you're able to just go for something that just kills almost instantly, a lot easier.
Also lots of rounds these days are made to wound, not kill. Especially military rounds.

you cant stop every bleeding. if you get shot you have
internal bleedings which rarely can be stopped.
if organs get shot, they stop working. you cant heal that.
to get hit to death hurts way more. firearms are not there to
hurt, but to kill efficiently. if someone hits you to death with a
baseball bat it will hurt way more.

same with a gun. since you've probably never shot anything, I'm guessing that you think guns are just point, shoot and someone dies. Reality is quite different. Only about 30% of bullets fired by police hit their target. bullets aren't magic. The wounding mechanisms remain the same. Only a bullet from a handgun will create a wound channel about as big as the width of a sharpie, while the blunt force from a 2x4 blow will create massive lesions and internal bleeding for a thorax hit. In fact, most 9mm bullets and smaller don't have enough power to get through a human skull, their only way of killing someone is by hemorrhage.

you ignorant little kid.
the most ammunition doesnt penetrate the body because
its build for that. If it doesnt penetrate, its way more effective.
the whole energy is will be released into the target.
just shut up please. you never shot someone too so you dont know shit too.
If you are actually hunting: Ammunition for hunting is mostly penetrating. they are less effective. the propabilty to survive is way higher.
please, you sound like a kid. just stop it.

Well, its not your lucky day because this kid owns multiple guns and knows a ton more about ballistics than you do. I'm pretty sure you're thinking about hollow or soft point bullets :
These rounds mushroom out and even fragment on contact, their goal is to take up as much room as possible in order to create a larger wound channel due to increased cavitation. This augments tissue and vascular damage, if it doesn't hit bone. Where you're wrong is on the notion of "stopping power". Bullets don't have much energy, only about the same as a 10 lb weight dripped from 6 feet for a .308 at the muzzle. That can easily be absorbed by the bones if it is distributed enough. That's why low velocity hollow point rounds are mostly ineffective on the head and partly ineffective in the thorax. In fact some of these rounds have been known to stop penetrating before they reach organs. Self defense ammo is mainly a compromise between hurting the target and being concealable. To this effect, i will have to claim that your statement that these rounds are "way more effective" is untrue. As for hunting rounds, they are typically a LOT heavier and MUCH faster than self defense pistol ammo. They are the real killers, those things are built to kill elk and grizzly bears. They typically expand a bit on impact and continue straight through the animal. However, the things easily penetrate bone and heavy muscle creating a huge wound channel due to their high velocity. With a good hit to the lungs, most deer will fall under a dozen seconds after the shot.
Here's a surgeon to explain it in detail:
