This was as liberal as I could possibly get it to go. And I actually have a teacher who was farther left economically.... no freaking idea how.

Thankfully he usually kept it to himself, but every once in a while it bled through. He's so left it's actually a bit amusing, and I'm pretty damn left myself.

Btw, that's the most conservative I could get it to go

When you take the actual test, you'll see it takes all sorts of things into consideration for "social issues." It has the usual, like gay marriage and abortion, but also things such as astrology and whatnot. For instance, I'm extremely socially liberal, but I only come in at around -3.5. For practical political purposes, Gary Johnson and the other Libertarians are quite liberal. Just compare what you know about Obama's social policies to theirs; their "neutrality" is only because of the current political calibration.

Surprisingly, he is not, he has just been pretending that for this campaign. The man was elected governor of Massachusetts, how right-wing can he be?
User avatar #55 - BeoX (11/04/2012) [-]
Libertarian and Authoritarian are the two extremes of social beliefs. The "Libertarian Party" is a bit of a misnomer in that sense. On this compass, up is socially conservative and down is socially liberal, and left is economically liberal while right is economically conservative. It's a very accurate test, we use it in AP Gov.
User avatar #109 - emrakul (11/04/2012) [-]
The libertarians I know of (including Gary Johnson) are generally quite socially liberal, and as such would be far from neutral on that scale.

You can support a Democratic or Republican candidate without necessarily supporting the party as a whole. It's not as if every Democrat or Republican is the same.
