Germany's like basically the powerhouse of the EU - they earn the most money, the EU bank is in Frankfurt, the patent offices in Munich, and even one of the EU parliament buildings is in Strasbourg, basically a German city just across the border in France.

Anyway, France is like the petite madamoiselle and Germany the gentle masculine hero of the EU. And Germany is also known to be unbelievably nice and generous since WWII (maybe because they felt so bad for what Adolf did) - they allow many immigrants in, free health care, over a year of maternity leave, Germany is basically paradise.

BUT...

In Poland Ball comics, pre-WWI German Emprire is depicted as a mighty block with the black, white and red bars. This is the shadow we see at the end.

TLDR: pre-war Germany is always lingering in the shadows and is actually the muscle behind Germany's modern-day success.
