It clearly says don't fit into anywhere that's not perfect.

Where in this forsaken Earth will anyone fit in perfectly?
User avatar
#49 - elburritoextremo (12/29/2013) [-]
i fit in perfectly with the close circle of friends i choose to keep.

i wouldn't force myself to be friends with anyone i didn't like.
User avatar
#50 - anenemy (12/29/2013) [-]
Don't ever make any new friends, then, because you're exactly where you need to be, and you're not going anywhere else, because just like a puzzle, once you're put where you're supposed to go, that's it.
User avatar
#52 - elburritoextremo (12/29/2013) [-]
yeah and i'm happy with that because my friends i keep now are perfect to me.

however, for all the people who don't have that for themselves yet (the people who havnt found their place in the puzzle) they can keep trying new things and finding new people until they do fit in somewhere.

User avatar
#53 - anenemy (12/29/2013) [-]
So that's it? You're happy with living the rest of your life not making a single new friend at all, ever?

As for "the others," they can't really keep trying new things, that goes against the analogy.

#111 - alexwinning (12/23/2013) [-]
I'm gonna be completely honest; I would never consume the flesh of a human under any circumstances. Hell, I would fight to the death before someone would force-feed me human. And trust me, this isn't a purely societal view (although my society certainly has quite a bit of influence.) This view comes from a very anthropocentric point of view; subconsciously, I see that humans are on top of the food chain. That means humans should not be eaten, even by humans. There is virtually no logic behind this opinion, but it is embedded so deeply in my mind that there is next to nothing that would change my mind.
#100 - prominant (12/23/2013) [-]
I've read somewhere that actually consuming human meat can lead to actual disease. Not a poorly stomach, but genuine neurological disease.

I'll pass
#90 - mayoroftownsville (12/23/2013) [-]
Refuse meat, lower demand, fewer humans are killed to meet demand, save lives. Learn to economics.
#87 - kibi (12/23/2013) [-]
I wouldn't just because of the nasty side effects that come with eating your own species. There's so many species-specific diseases and germs, apparently eating people could straight up kill you. Things like "Kuru". Also, apparently human meat is tough and bland.
User avatar
#83 - xdeathspawnx (12/23/2013) [-]
No, there are plenty of animals I would not eat, and humans are somewhere near the top of that list.

#73 - toncheky (12/23/2013) [-]
It'd not that I would want to eat it, I'm just really curios, what does it taste like.

No I wouldn't. Mainly because of kuru. What is kuru? It's an incurable neurological disorder caused by a prion found in humans (think mad cow, but for people).

It's endemic to certain cannibalistic tribes in Papua New Guinea, and victims will start to grow tired and lose their appetite, then start to shake uncontrollably until they die of starvation, since they can't eat. And as mentioned before, there's no cure. What's worse is that children catch it when their mothers feed them scraps while they're preparing human.

So yeah, I don't want to risk it, since it's transmitted through cannibalism.
#52 - anon (12/23/2013) [-]
Well, what if that didn't exist?

Would you eat it, if there were no real negative parts but it being a human?

Personally I would. I'm a scientist. Predisposed to potentially deadly curiosity.
User avatar
#106 - lunargirl (12/23/2013) [-]
Hmmm... As long as they didn't go out and kill someone for me, I think I'd try a piece.

I mean, I'd feel really weird and conflicted knowing that what I was eating used to be a person with feelings and dreams, but I'd also be really curious about what it tastes like.

But I can't say for sure what my choice would be until I'm actually in that situation, which most likely won't happen.

I wouldn't. Just in case I'm next.

That is what unsettles me about it, that I would be eating something and whoever prepared and/or enjoys it is looking at me eat and thinking 'So how would he taste with some barbeque sauce?'

No thanks

#43 - EdwardNigma (12/23/2013) [-]
I would, but hopefully not eat too much. I hear if you get too cannibalistic, you lose your fucking mind.

Also, I would not deny a cannibalistic tribe a polite offer. Thats shit you don't mess with.

well as someone in culinary school i can assure you of one thing, its gonna be tough as fuck if its from a limb or commonly used muscle. my proof? ever have a duck wing? not much meat but any meat you try it has the toughness and elasticity of a used tire, good luck trying to chew!

Honestly, It would creep me out, but I am curious. So just that once, I'd give it a shot. I'm not going to go around eating people or anything, but I'd try a bite. Can't say I'd eat a whole steak of it though. Just a mouthful to see what it tastes like.

I certainly would accept i just have one problem with it. Human muscle texture is way different than that of a cow, pig, chicken, sheep or any other animal we breed for the meat. I don't think human flesh would taste that great.

Answer time

Jee, let's see.. Because it's immoral, no matter if the tribes think it's okay you will always know it isn't, you will always know that you have digested another person which is quite inhumane, you'd lose respect and confidence in yourself (or gain it, and become an ill fit to society through thinking of himself as all high and mighty from human consumption), if you ever tell anyone about it you will probably be shunned and/or arrested, etc etc etc.

TL;DR you just don't. If you aren't defect, you have a conscience, and it says NO.
#53 - anon (12/23/2013) [-]
Quite the high horse, there, sir.

This question isn't a "this man died so you could eat him" one so much as "this man would have died anyways, there are no consquences, what do you think?" one. You say it's immoral. Is it really? Who decides immoral if we all think differently, even different countries?

This question really brings out the real you. Rather than consider what the other side is, you automatically shun it and anyone related to it. You must truly hate difference, if you didn't even try to see this question for the mental exercise it is rather than "b/c my society says its bad". Put some mental effort into it man! Something beyond "my society says its bad"! Think about what others are saying instead of automatically screaming "DEMON"!

Really cool and all that you responded to me through anonymous so that you probably won't read my answer. Ofcourse it's immoral, it's in the basic of being human.
You wouldn't want anyone eating yourself so you don't eat other people.
#105 - anon (12/23/2013) [-]
In fact, I woudn't want anyone to kill me so that person could eat me then and so I don't kill others. I don't care what happens to me after death anyway. Think that the person you could eat died in accident and is perfectly indifferent to what happens to his/her flesh now.
#34 - anon (12/23/2013) [-]
In many tribes it's extremely disrespectful to decline the food they offer you, because when an outsider arrives, it's not uncommon for them to put forth their very best food to try and be a good host. Their "best food" may differ, because there are a lot of cannibalistic tribes and what have you in the world. Many are also prone to violence. So if you declined their very best food that they offered to you, they might just kill you and eat you instead.
