Yes, I have just the thing..." he walks over to the casual rack and pulls out a vial of dark liquid. "I call it Nightwalker. It's a popular request of stargazers, spelunkers, and other wanderers of the dark. For just 10 d'jay a bottle, you can gain the ability to not only see in the dark, but surround yourself in shadows for protection or mischief."

Activate (drink) the potion to gain Darkvision for 1 encounter (you can see in dark or shadowy areas), as well as the following ability.
Shadowshroud (activate, 1 MP) - For 1 round, you gain Evasion while standing in a dark or shadowy area.

Eizujeil listened to the alchemists explanation and liked what he heard, at 10 d'jay a bottle he was happy to use the coin, and since he was getting a bottle for his partner, he doubted that she would have an issue with it. "Alright, i'll take two bottles of the stuff" He said as he handed over the coin, once he was done with the purchase, it was back to the workshop for him, perhaps the smith might have some more work for him.

"Greetings," said the tall elf in the alchemy shop, "What can I do for you today, sir? I have a wide variety of combat potions, if you're an arena competitor, as well as a great number of more subtle tinctures for casual use."
You could see numerous bottles on the wall, grouped by generalized function and relative cost. Other than a vial labeled "Immunity," nothing in the combat section seemed particularly handy. Everything in the casual use section had a fancy name or vague conceptual title, like "Skinchanger" or "Nightwalker," making it almost impossible to tell at a glance what exactly you might be looking for.

I am an arena participant and am looking for something specific. I'm looking for something to help combat magical darkness, something that will either let me see or be able to sense accurately, do you have anything like that?" He asked, getting straight to the point.

The investor handed you the 20 d'jay, and offered one final piece of information. "Good luck, sirrah. Qinna uses a scroll ta' work the magic, maybe you can find one that'll undo hers."
It seems almost suspicious, the amount of help he's giving you. But, his livelihood is based on audience interest in the fights, so you realize it's in his own best interests for Qinna's magic to be overcome.

Eizujeil was about to go see the scribe in order to perhaps find a way to dispel magic, but another thought came to him. Suddenly stopping in his tracks, he changed trajectory and made his way to the alchemist, even though he did approve of magic scrolls since their purpose was singular, a potion which perhaps gave the ability to see enemies without the need for light or even eyes for that matter was more acceptable. To him, the risk of taking a potion was purely on the body, as even a scroll could go awry and then hell would have to be paid for its chaotic effects.

Casually making his way around his board, Eizujeil was suddenly interrupted by some dark creature of the night. It was very clear that this creature was looking for some rough and tough, and perhaps thought the old man easy pickings, but it had made a mistake. Giving out a gruff sigh, he clicked his tongue and studies this newfound menace, trying to recollect any knowledge he might have on this particular specimen, unfortunately he only drew a blank, feeling a slight nauseating sensation from the process, it would seem as though the magic of the river Styx would force him to do battle with only his wits, but thats all he would need for this encounter.

Without wasting any more time, he flexed his arms and fingers and methodically stepped into action; the Styx may have taken his experiences and memories, but it didnt take away his nature. With one stride the old man readied his axe and sized his foe, guessing from its height and weight how quick the foe might be, but more importantly, how easy it would split from the weight of his battleaxe, striding twice more with a quicker pace, Eizujeil closed the gap between himself and his target and swung wide, hoping to cleave the little imps midriff before it could skirt away.

Your attack, at 55, surpassed his 30 Defence, meaning you would do 1 damage! If you had rolled 72+, it would have been a Critical Strike, and done 1 Damage regardless of his Defence. If you rolled below this, it would have dealt no damage.   
   
To note, I included some RP about how your masterful weapons-work scared the mana out of him. That is why he ALSO had 1 Drain as well as 1 Wound. Wounds are HP damage, Drain is MP damage.   
   
Best of luck on the real battlefield!

Welcome to the FJ RPG. If you have any questions, let me know. Our next game should start in a few days; until then, you should check out Skullgirl's Saloon (one of the older posts in the RPG channel) because that's where merchants, trainers, etc. can be found. There's an NPC there (The Beastmaster, in red font) who will let you spar his creatures for some extra exp, if you're behind or just starting out.
