 I made one of those. They are brittle as fuck and heat makes it worse. I'm forever slapping more plaster on cracks and shit. My lid broke the other day and I have to cast a new one. You're best to research how to make a good heat resistant material. I read something about a fire clay mixture that supposedly works great but I can't remember right now. Also the air intake at an angle is annoying. If you turn off your hairdryer a jet of flame comes up and into your hair dryer. I've never had my crucible melt so I don't think I need the intake at an angle like that. But I have a nice thick steel crucible. I'm gonna make a new one the exact same way except out of a different material and with the air intake pipe sticking out parallel to the ground. I'm in no way an expert. I just built that wee foundry and these are just my thoughts on it. I have a wee cake tin in the shape of a fish and have melted aluminium cans and poured them into it to make crappy wee fish ingots | ||
