Gas prices are definetly a rip off, but i fucking hate my country for not being metric. too many conversions

I hear you on that one mate. Here in Aus we are metric BUT we have for the longest time imported stuff from all over the world including the U.S. and England so while we have the metric system we often need to be conversant in imperial stuff too. U.S. Gallons are different to Imperial Gallons are differnt to litres etc. Same is true of metal threads there being being metric, B.A. (an English "metric" sorta thing) U.N.C. U.N.F. U.N.E.F (American) Whitworth (English), and on and on the varieties go - it is a total head f*ck at times.

Ours in the uk is £1.40 per litre... Which is equal to $2.20 a litre roughly... so you had it bad? Come to the UK...

Yep, I'm a UK driver too and filling a tank is like getting punched in the teeth. For you US people, £1.40/litre = $9.90 per gallon. Nearly TRIPLE the american fuel prices.
Maths: £1.40 = $2.20. 1 gallon = 4.5 litres. $2.20 x 4.5 = $9.90.

I might be wrong but i think he used imperial gallons because 1 of those equals 4.5 litters, a US gallon equals about 3.8

Sorry, didn't realise you guys use a different 'gallon' in the US.

1 US gallon = 3.78541178 litres
1 Imperial gallon = 4.54609188 litres

I guess it's sort of like how we both use the word "billion" to mean different amounts. Confusing. So it works out to be $8.33/gallon. My bad.
