#5593 - Give me one good reason that voter I.D. laws are bad.  [+] (7 new replies) 07/31/2012 on Politics - politics news,... +2

The overly strict voter ID laws passed by republican voters are as follows:
1. you must be a legal citizen
2.photo ID

That's obviously so hard for minorities to figure out that it overly suppresses votes!

I think the main argument now is that changing them close to an election might not let some people have enough time to get an ID and that it mainly effects Blacks and Hispanics. For example, you need a birth certificate which costs 20$ to get it within a few weeks, then have to go to DMV and pay for an ID. I don't know exact costs but that's the gist of the argument. For me I don't see a problem with passing them after this election because then people will have plenty of time to get an ID.

So democrats think blacks and Hispanics are too dumb to get their I.Ds yet the conservatives are the racists. Interesting.
User avatar #5597 - vulcanvulcan (07/31/2012) [-]
No, I think you misunderstood. Its more of a money issue. In the US a large percentage of people under the poverty line are Black and Hispanic. So when you are poor it is more difficult to get the money to get the ID on short notice. Do you see what I mean?

They passed the laws early in the year so you could have time to get the ID, also most of the states who are now enacting voter ID laws are willing to pay for your ID in order for you to vote. Yet, if you are too lazy to take public transportation, walk, ride a bike, or drive to city hall or the DMV with the necessary forms to prove you are a citizen, which is a social security card and Birth Certificate can suffice.

So, those poor people have never done anything that he listed?

I guess not. I'm just saying the argument against it.

Wasn't it Bush that started all this mess?

Also isn't republicans voting down everything Obama suggests?
#5633 - easytiger (08/01/2012) [-]
No not even close. Come on stop believing the MSM. This goes back to Carter.

that's because I think those schools cheat in recruiting! How can the National Title game be determined by a rematch and be won by a non conference winner?!? Answer me that Batman! It's thanks to that title game we got a playoff now, so I really should thank the SEC for being money grubbing greedy assholes XD

1. Save a tree is talking about using less resources, so they can last longer. On the other hand, abortion is completely different, and is much more about personal freedoms while the first picture is about environmental issues.

2. I don't even know what he's doing or why it would be offensive. Well flag burning is technically freedom of speech it's a pretty asshole-ish thing to do. Legally, you can't touch him (at least I don't think) but he deserves a punch the jaw, no doubt.

3. I don't know what the third one or fourth one are talking about. The third could be about racism (I don't know) and I think the fourth has something to do with immigration.
User avatar #5600 - muzzington (07/31/2012) [-]
Conservatives are fucking idiots though, who honestly believes that regardless of changing attitudes and technologies politics should stay the same.
#5589 - N. Korean citizen (07/31/2012) [-]
I will explain the first 3 to you. Not the fourth because I have no idea what it is. The first: They have almost nothing to do with each other. The government should not be able to tell a woman if she can have an abortion or not. It's part of the "freedom" that america holds. The second: I am a Liberal and I don't find that picture offensive. Also the burning flag is a freedom of speech, IT'S A FLAG. Not a person. The third: All liberals don't think that way. It's only a select few.
#5590 - easytiger (07/31/2012) [-]
Oh god. Your shitty argument. It's hilarious. What about the freedom of the baby? That doesn't matter? If you burn the flag that so many people died for prepare to get your ass kicked. The third one isn't just a select few. It's everywhere. The fourth on is addressing the fact that liberals don't care about the illegals flowing over the border but cry racism when voter id laws are instituted.

Shorter:Liberals are pants on head status.
