Not really, Finland gave Russia a SERIOUS beating. Russia initiated an invasion but due to poor planning, weather conditions, poorly equipped and rationed soldiers, and some very angry Finns, their initial assault failed miserably. For their efforts, Russia only gained a tiny portion of land from the Finns, and suffered an embarrassing defeat as they sent in over 800 000 men while the Finns had less than half of that in total and sent even less men to fight them (Around 100 000 men) and yet killed and wounded 300 000 Russians for the loss and wounding of only 60 000 men.

"smiling at the hundreds of thousands of dead Russians" that's kinda messed up, I'm British but I wouldn't be happy at the thought of dead German soldiers, its just.. like I said.. weird..

except had the war dragged on,the finns would prob get smashed by the russians, however to replrieve either side from serious losses i think they withdrew.

also Simo Hayja was kicking thier ass all over the shop until he got hit on the last day of the war.

On top of all that, given Stalins policies it's not unthinkable that Stalin was just trying to cut down on the number of soldiers/people in Russia with that war. He may very well have not given a damn if they succeeded, he just wanted them the fuck away from Russia so they couldn't stage a coop.

Stalin was worried that the economic alliance between Germany and Finland would give Germany an ally to help attack Russia if Hitler turned against Russia (because at this time they were allied, but Stalin was aware of Hitler's hatred for Communism.)

At one point the Finns actually pushed Russia completely out of Finland, and even made advances into Russia.

O no doubt Finland kicked Russia's ass, one of the most shattering victories of modern wars.
