I agree. Reading the text itself wasn't all that difficult, but the grammar really fucked me up.

Well...you see..... I have a job that utilizes my degree in Computer Science and I interact with database that store dates a lot, so..... If you want files listed in chronological order or need a result set from the db in chronological order, you better be doing year/month/day. Now, in casual speaking/typing/whatever, I'll still use the month/day/year thing, but when it counts? YMD, baby.

True reading/saying june 6th, 2015 just sounds better lingustically but for like historical dates, 2015 june 6th makes it easier to understand.
So there are benefits and drawbacks to both systems.

I've mentioned this before, but with the date thing, it's also a matter of the month being more descriptive than the day of the month when setting a scene and helps narrow down a calendar into a chunk fastest when given first.

Compare "The weather was exactly as one would expect it to be, what with it being October and all." to "Being only three days into the month, the weather hadn't had time to change yet." Or compare "The trip is scheduled sometime in June next year." to "The trip next year will be on the 15th."


Also, bullcrap aside, both systems are wrong for date format; you do year/month/day for keeping things chronologically sorted. ;)

Also about the MM/DD/YY set up I think it is more logical because this.
MM will only range between 01 - 12
DD will only range between 01 - 31
YY will only range between 00 - 99

so smaller to larger numbers I guess was the reason for Month Day Year organization.
