You make a great point, but I still have a strong sense of hope for LoK. Think about it like this: Aang got to a slow start with his bending, but he was highly developed morally and emotionally. At the end, he was a complete bending badass and well adjusted mentally.

Adversely, Korra is already a bending badass, but she was a lot of emotion growth to undergo. I have a feeling that she is really going to be all-around fantastic by the end of the show.
