You're right, really I just don't want someone in such an important office to believe in such a transparent religion.
User avatar #11703 - Peirs (10/26/2012) [-]
2 things.
1: I'm pretty sure you don't know the meaning of transparent.
2: You're bad at making arguments. I get it, you don't like Mormonism so you should vote for the person who is running this country into the ground instead just because.

Now that we're done with that you should get to bed because you obviously need to take a nap mr. cranky pants.

I do not however, look like that. So why don't you think Homosexuals should have the ability to marry?
User avatar #11704 - Peirs (10/26/2012) [-]
Because they can acquire the same benefits through a Civil Union. It's the classic give them an inch and they take a mile scenario.
#11706 - drewvinator (10/26/2012) [-]
I guess I just understand why people care, or feel like they have any say in the matter.

It would, at least the vote this year in Washington. I don't have anything against gay's, just seems no reason they need to have their civil unions called marriages when so clearly everyone else does not want it.
#11720 - drewvinator (10/26/2012) [-]
"Everyone else"? This is a highly debated issue. I also believe there is a difference between forcing someone to give you a child, and making it so you cant be discriminated against. A gay couple who is not qualified to adopt wont be able to, just like a straight couple. The amendment is saying that your sexual orientation wont disqualify you from adopting. I dunno, that sounds reasonable to me. I am a Washington voter
User avatar #11729 - rageisfunny (10/26/2012) [-]
By everyone else I just meant that it got voted down like three times in Cali and has been elsewhere. Yes but it would go against there belief that children should be raised by a mother and father. So religiously, they wouldn't be able to, and would likely have to close. Just seems like they are pushing for something that isn't necessary.
#11744 - drewvinator (10/27/2012) [-]
No, I guess it isn't necessary. It really is more of an issue of equality. Everyone wishes to be treated fairly and without bias, and if you are being discriminated against I think it is only natural for you to seek equality.
User avatar #11745 - rageisfunny (10/27/2012) [-]
Yea but civil union is on the same footing as a heterosexual marriage. So why isn't it equal. I kind of think its gay just pushing for another thing, and maybe once they can have it called marriage, they will be accepted by all, when generally I think the opposite is true.
#11746 - drewvinator (10/27/2012) [-]
What you are describing sounds a lot like "separate but equal", which I think we all know has failed on several occasions in history. I agree that being able to marry wont make the gay community any more accepted, but I think it is a step towards that. If I were to guess, I would say in 100 years homosexuality will widely accepted and the gay rights movement will be just another chapter in a history book.(maybe just a couple paragraphs actually)
#11780 - nonameavailable (10/27/2012) [-]
i disagree with you on almost every "point" you've made and I woul like to point out that rights movement NEVER end until finally it would just be virtually illegal to disagree. Also, i see why you think it is an issue of equality, but i dont see it that way. What they want isnt equality. What they want is MORE. And when you call it descrimination, its not, its opposition. Say a homosexual couple applies for adoption but are rejected because they are homosexuals. They would sue because they say they should have EQUAL RIGHTS, well, first of all you do not have the right to adoption, second of all, they denied them because they are opposed to them because they beleive that what they are oing is morally wrong. They are not going to force you not to do it, but they sure shouldnt be forced to support it.
#11810 - drewvinator (10/27/2012) [-]
How is wanting to be treated as a normal couple "more" than equality? I was not saying that adoption is a right, I was saying that a gay couple shouldn't be immediately disqualified. And honestly, I couldn't give less of a shit about catholic adoption centers. I've lived with 6 brothers and sisters who were all foster children, and I can assure you that not one of them cared about the sexual orientation of my parents.
Education level?
User avatar #11877 - rageisfunny (10/29/2012) [-]
Exactly. Steamroll everything for gay "rights"! Who cares about religious freedom, gays should get what they want. In not giving a shit about those adoption centers, you are saying you don't give a shit about the homes those centers help kids find. And nonameavailable has a good point, that the rights movement has no goal, there is always one more thing, until it isn't equal but unfair to others. If we continue with this, we will end up like Canada, where they teach in schools there are seven genders.
#11878 - drewvinator (10/29/2012) [-]
I am against the idea that because of the beliefs of a religious institution kids can't be given to a gay couple. Home with same sex parents vs. foster home. But whatever, I cast my vote in WA. Hopefully it will pass.

User avatar #11687 - Peirs (10/26/2012) [-]
It was said he was directed to ancient plates in 1823 by an angel. He was never handed the plates. If you choose to not like the people of my religion due to what we believe, then so be it. Although it is ignorant and shallow that you do so. I understand you not liking a religion, but to dislike all of it's members is just stupid.
