- We talkin about stark or victor V doom?
Both, actually - that´s why Stark comes so close to becoming a villain so often. He and Van Doom kinda share this viewpoint.
Wasn't revealed that Doom was mankinds only hope though?
The only hope for utopia is Doomworld, yes.
They're both like that, they both want what's best for the world but let their ego get in the way of their plans. To be frank, while I'd say Doom has a bigger ego and that it's his greatest weakness, he seems to have more belief in his convictions than Tony and holds to his own code of ethics more readily. Simply put Doom would never let anyone or anything control him he's got too much pride. Tony on the other hand is arguably a much more flawed character than Doom, where his greatest weakness isn't his ego but rather his own lack of spiritual fortitude, evident by his actions during the Civil War or even more blatantly his struggle with alcoholism. To put it bluntly while Doom is definitely not a good person in any traditional sense despite the nobility
real or perceived
of his goals, he is still a exemplar of mental fortitude, and while Tony is genuinely a good person, he is often misguided and blinded either by his own failure or his own ego. Personally I think this makes them both incredibly interesting characters.
