I'm typing this wall of text to explain, in detail, why I hate the Xbox One. I will also provide links to sources, so that nothing is unclear or speculative.
1) Used Games Policy
www.ign.com/wikis/xbox-one/Used_Games_and_Rentals
If you read through that and didn't laugh at the stupidity, I don't know what to say. If you buy a used game, you're stuck with it, period. No reselling at all. This severely impacts millions of gamers, because this is how they play games; they buy them, and then when they are finished, they sell them. This is no longer possible unless you buy the game new, which costs tremendously more money.
What is more laughable is the trading/giving of games to friends. They have to be your friend for 30 days? You can only give it away once? Games should not be a license, they should be a product. If I purchase something, it is my right to do whatever the fuck I want with it. I can play with it, I can eat it, I can throw it in a river if I feel like it. You do not have the right to go against the capitalistic nature of business itself and claim I don't have the right to resell or give away my product. I can't support a company that believes they have the right to sell something to me, and I do not.
Oh, and if you look at the bottom of the source, it says that third party publishers can impose whatever fees they desire. Lol.
2) Online Requirements
www.ign.com/wikis/xbox-one/Always_Online_Connection
The Xbox One doesn't require an always online connection, but it requires you to connect every 24 hours to check up on things. You are unable to play games if you do not connect every 24 hours.
I have a very fast internet connection. I'm lucky. A lot of you probably have decent connections as well. But there are many people who have absolutely terrible ISPs who don't know how to do their damn job. There are also plenty of people without internet at all. I know these people personally. What are they supposed to do when their internet drops? Pray that it's back up in 24 hours? You may say "well go do something else". Why should they have to do something else when they want to play games, because Microsoft implemented some bullshit DLC preventing them from using the product they purchased?
My friend Steve does not have his Xbox 360 connected to the internet. This is fine; he has no interest in playing his games online. He chose not to connect. But if he bought an Xbox One, that choice would be taken away from him. He would be forced to run an ethernet cable through his ceiling, or use some wireless adapter with shitty reception in his basement. This is far too much of a pain in the ass to warrant the purchase of a $500 system, when the alternatives don't have something this ludicrous.
Let's get real and realize the true reason this bonehead decision is being implemented; Microsoft wants to eliminate used games. They would not be able to do that without this. Uh oh, we detected this game has been traded more than once! You can't play that! Fuck you Microsoft, for claiming that used games are hurting your profits when your company is one of the biggest tech giants in the world.
Those are the two biggest reasons not to buy an Xbox One. They alone are FAR more than enough reason not to buy it. But let's just throw in a few extra tidbits of information.
- The Kinect is required for the Xbox One to run (luckily, it no longer is required to be on, eliminating those big brother concerns)
www.ign.com/wikis/xbox-one/Xbox_One_Kinect
- The Xbox One will cost $500; by comparison, the PS4 costs $400 and the Wii U costs $350
www.ign.com/wikis/xbox-one/Xbox_One_Price_and_Bundles
- The Xbox One is region locked; this means that you cannot import games from another country, the game must be released in your region

So there you have it. How can you justify supporting this?

Like I said to someone else;
This justifies the need for DRM by forcing installation of games. It's literally like saying "you shouldn't think this is bad because another bad thing that we did makes it neccesary".
On the issue of reselling discs, "participating retailers" suggests that it's going to be somewhat limited and is only a way of saying "you can do it, but not the way that the PS4 or any other console allows you to do it".
Whilst the "game of circles" thing seems cool, saying that not having DRM would "crumble sales" and then letting 10 people play one copy of a game is beyond hypocritical.
This barely justifies anything.

Each console has their strengths and weaknesses but I always loved oh I dunno, borrowing my friends games and letting them use mine.
They're so worried about making a damnable profit that they're blind to the damage they're doing which in turn is going to cost them more then they think.
The only possible way to consider buying this... thing is if they come up with some god-tier game that will not only last through the year but until the release of the next console, but seeing at that is impossible because, well, Microsoft.
They fucked, I'm not saying this console will be the death of them, but they're gonna see some pretty big fucking drops.
At least Windows 8 is trying to rectify themselves while they simply dig the shit hole deeper.
And that's my input.

I'm planning on it, but I'm kind of swamped with games I haven't played at the moment. Lots of steam games. But I will definitely buy it at some point, I can't ignore a game that has gotten pretty much nothing but 10/10 from like, every reviewer ever.

I just heard a song by them yesterday. I wouldn't have been that mad, if it wasn't for the fact that the entire music video was just two teenagers kissing in the pool and other "sexy" locations while emo lyrics were sung in the background.

Oh you know, just coming to the realization that no one really cares about their friends, or at least they eventually won't, because when they're older, they won't have time to care about anything but their family. So that kind of stomps on all my hopes and dreams.
Also, I love that picture.
Also, I love that picture.
That isn't how I want it to be. Sure I'd like to have acquaintances come and go, but I want friends that stay around my whole life.
Ever observe what happens to people who get a boy/girlfriend? They change. All of them. They would rather spend time with their SO. The only important thing in their mind is their SO, and later on for some, their kids. Friends are nothing but some secondary function. I don't matter to anyone but my mom and dad.
What kills me the most, is that if I ever get an SO, I'll be the same way.

We're still young though, it may not seem true just yet. But look at everyone who is older. Your mom and dad, every other adult couple.....how many friends do they have? How often do they see those friends? Chances are, 9 days out of 10, they don't. They come home from work and see nothing but their wife/husband and their kids. And they're okay with that. I'm not.
It's nice that some people our age still care. But everyone will stop eventually.
