anon (09/16/2015) [-] He's a good guy. Too bad we can't ever get someone like this in the USA. You have to be able to buy the presidency or be bred to pander to a certain political party from birth, making you a complete shithead Just cause he lives in a shit hole doesn't make him a good leader. Giving away his own meager amount of money is not helping anyone. If he's a communist pig then I don't care if he's the dalai lama, he shouldn't be leading the country, but shit hole counties usually elect communists so it makes sense. Congratulations, you disgraced the nature of your profile picture. Remove it. Lol. Buddy. If you are supporting communits which by your own picture it looks like you support retard governments already then you are an idiot. I have seen the VICE documentary on Uruguay and the legalization of marihuana. There are still lots of people there that don't want him because of the commercialising of marihuana. I like him though Really people are we all still so autistic that this sort of thing is what it takes to push this community into a frenzy. #312 -
anon (09/16/2015) [-] Social democrats acknowledge the free-market and multi-party-system, while communism is against both. They're nowhere near to be the same #289 -
kornadth (09/16/2015) [-] oh. and I'm from POLAND - so don't tell me what socialism and communism are cause my grandparents lived through communism, my parents through socialism and I'm living through demosocialism - and so far only thing i can see about anything close related to socialism that it's shitty as lenins ass - thats the reason why shitloads of people left poland and moved to other countries where taxes are lower and life standard is higher due to less legislation- but hey - it seems that we have loads of people in here eager to take their place in this "free" healthcare and "free" education country - why would native people run from such country? it seems that "free" education did what it meant to do - create pro social slaves who just want to breathe, eat and think that "social" money grows on trees. #323 -
anon (09/16/2015) [-] Damn, this isn't biased at all! But seriously, how can you be so dishonest when talking about politics? Fucking pathetic. #288 -
dankrolls (09/16/2015) [-] **dankrolls used "*roll picture*"** **dankrolls rolled image**You do realize that 100% socialism (to take it to the extremes) is giving the government full control of the citizens, and 100% communism (to take it to the extreme again) is giving the government 0 control, but that the people just sort of handles it. You're confusing communism with what a lot of countries have called communism, and while the dictator part is "necessary" to get to communism, it is not the goal of communism... The world has yet to see a communism in action... The main problem with communism is that people always want to have more than other people, and if someone else has more than you do, for example if they can afford to buy a lot of brand clothing, and you don't. But the real difference is that they only bought clothes on sales and you only bought for full price, generally people think that is unfair... Someday, years from now you might remember your comment about this...and conclude you were ignorant on the idea of communism and socialism. #256 -
anon (09/16/2015) [-] Social democracy is everyone gets what they need, everyone is supported to have equal oppurtunity Communism is everyone gets exactly the same no matter what One of these is retarded, the other creates a massive middle-class where you have plenty room to make your life better. #279 -
anon (09/16/2015) [-] you are a retard if you dont think the whole point of communism isnt to give people what they need. The communist revolution in Russia ran on the slogan peace, land, and bread. The major difference between a socialist and a communist is how much they curb the free market and how much they regulate everyday life. Socialism is just a watered-down communism. Tell me more about your personal freedom and ability to decide about your life with your huge student debt and inability to choose the education you want, while I enjoy my free selection of some of the best schools, colleges and universities in the world. Socialism doesn't mean less human rights, like the freedom of movement and such, but can exclusively be about economy and taxes. It can give you all the benefits of free healthcare, education, etc. and still allow the classical "pursuit of happiness". Yes, we have laws that make it harder to be an entrepreneur, but it is still possible. I would actually argue that because of our free education and healthcare, we have MORE freedom than i.e. the US. no one said you couldnt get what you want, they said everyone gets what they NEED, you can work harder if you want something more. thats the entire fucking idea #206 -
anon (09/16/2015) [-] how the fuck is someone who voluntarily OUT OF HES OWN FREE WILL gives away his wealth for the sake of people? explain your answer, stupid child #298 -
mopeye (09/16/2015) [-] I'm ready to drown in red thumbs for this but technically that is the true definition of communism. Where everyone, by their own free will, shares everything they have with everyone else. Of course in practice communism has never actually worked that way but that is technically the original idea. I'm not saying that what he is doing is bad but technically having everyone with money live more modestly so that you can uses the resources to bring those less fortunate up to a comparable level is exactly what communism is supposed to achieve. #330 -
anon (09/16/2015) [-] its just competing ideology, in practice there really isnt anything but anarchy, but we grow up worshiping this ideology and denouncing that one... #328 -
ockhamsdragon (09/16/2015) [-] The only thing wrong with Communism is that we're too goddamn corrupt and stupid to accomplish it. The concept is great the problem with Communism is the execution. Humanity is too fucking useless, corrupt and selfish for Communism to actually work. #342 -
anon (09/16/2015) [-] In Marx's Communist Manifesto, he calls the communist paradise Utopia. Alluding to the fact that such a place cannot and will not exist. His book is a criticism of capitalism not a game plan to remove capitalist systems. Not his fault people took his shit so seriously. He's humble, but that doesn't mean that every president has to be as humble. 1 out of every 11 US presidents have been assassinated and numerous others have seen attempted assassinations, so it's understandable why one of ours might decide to use a well protected, private vehicle. That said, he has my respect. He also got Marijuana legalized to curve the Latin American drug trade into the country. Things to never post on the internet: -Religious views of any kind that contradict the majority -Political campaign signs of 1st and 2nd world nations -Anything disapproving or approving of said nations -Anything disagreeing with the moderator and admins to the point of breaking the website's code of conduct. -How poor/rich you are These and many more are some of the worst offenders, but keep in mind that someone will be offended no matter what. Best to keep your head down to avoid the rage of a thousand teenagers and 20-somethings. “Socialism never took root in America because the poor see themselves not as an exploited proletariat but as temporarily embarrassed millionaires.” ― Ronald Wright, A Short History of Progress These people think that one day they might be rich or already are. Bernie wants to tax the rich more. What these people don't take into count is the continually rising poverty line. Before they know it, they will be in poverty with no chance of getting out because all of the nations wealth has been directed towards the top 1%. Sorry for the run on sentence. Man, you're spot on. If you've noticed, it's all the oldfags who are thumbing up pro-bernie stuff. Most of the thumbs down on my arguments for bernie in this thread came from accounts made in 2015, AKA I'm seeing a pattern here and the older, more mature minority on this site are actually politically aware and the "This is America if you don't like it get out" Republicans are probably all 15 and under. They all think that capitalism is the greatest shit ever and are too fucking dumb to see that the rich are crooks, they think they'll be rich one day like you said, or they already are and all the bullshit their spouting is from their very privileged, upper middle class white suburban point of view. They don't know shit about struggle or what it's like to be poor in America and instead love to regurgitate what their racist dad and his talk show hosts yell about, and what they hear at the dinner table. Bernie is a man of the people, but a lot of these people are too fucking dumb to see it. I'm going to get downvoted for this but fuck it The democrat/socialist majority consists of 20-40 whereas the republican/capitalist majority consists of the 40+ age. Statistically you are incorrect, it is the younger generation that supports liberalism and the older generation that supports conservatism. It is best summarized by this quote, "If you are conservative when you are young you have no heart and if you are liberal when you are old you have no money". Capitalism is the greatest shit ever, when it is fully realized. Right now the US is not capitalistic at all, it is actually rather socialistic with the government rules/regulations that have been put in place in major private sectors (I.E. healthcare). In a truly capitalistic system healthcare would be much cheaper - instead the government uses regulations to ensure the same 3 companies rule the entire industry and can charge whatever they want. Bernie is a man of the people, but the problem with increasing taxes for the rich is that they will find tax loopholes and barring loopholes they will leave the country and take their money elsewhere. The reason those with no money support socialism is because they want wealth redistribution - they want the rich who "have it all" to pay for them. Why they think they deserve this money is beyond me, does your mere existence justify being given free things by those who are better off than you? Would it be fair to take a tub of icecream from a icecream factory with the justification, "well they have alot of it so they don't need all of it and I deserve it" Well, if everyone has this mentality soon the ice cream factory has no ice cream left and goes out of business and bam, no more icecream for paying customers or those who took it because "they deserve it". The top 1% have owned the majority of the worlds wealth since civilization began. In socialism the top 1% become concentrated in the government rather than private citizens. Look at the USSR - the top 1% had luxury cars, houses, and are all multimillionaires now due to their scheming in the government system. Is this "fair", no but who told you life was fair? Socialism works in an idealized society where everyone cares for their fellow man. Human nature is inherently selfish as a result of evolution - this is why capitalism works, it is based on human nature. Do I want to see people suffer, or go hungry? Of course not, that is why I donate to charities. But, do I want to see these people being given free handouts and continue the vicious cycle of welfare generations who never have the opportunity to leave their city because they are so dependent on these handouts? No. You may say capitalism doesn't work but keep in mind the US had fully realized capitalism for 200+ years and now enjoys the highest standard of living of any country in the world. Yes we have poor people, every country has poor people. But our "poor" still have food, housing, etc. whereas the poor in other countries do not even have access to basic amenities. I am not saying it is easy to become wealthy, but to say it is impossible and that the only solution is to tax the rich more and redistribute the wealth to the poor people is insanity. How sustainable do you think that system is? #263 -
jackleeswagger (09/16/2015) [-] Dude why r u being so generalizing? I'm an old fag conservative. I'm wasnt some spoiled little rich kid either. I work close to 70 hours a week. Bernie Sanders is a better alternative to Hillary clinton. That's it. I don't like his stance on guns. He says that he doesn't wanna take away anyone's legally obtained guns yet in a different mouth advocates for a gun free America. I'm tired of Democrats in the white house.. I've always thought liberalism was a disease that first melts the heart before melting your brain, but aside from that liberals aren't going anywhere but neither are conservatives. So that's why whoever is put in the white house needs to bridge this divisiveness we have going on and work across the isle. I'm fine with more taxes on the rich, but we HAVE to find ways to burn welfare leechest and deadbeats who just don't WANT to work. However One thing that resonated with me that Bernie said was his opposition to lobbyists. Which is pretty cool It's because they're the fucking Young Republican generation. It's funny they call us the entitled ones who want handouts when liberals are commonly the ones who have to fucking work their way up from nothing instead of getting handed wads of cash from their parents. Also how the fuck am I supposed to take the people in this thread seriously when one of his arguments against Bernie was that he supports Black Lives Matter? These people are fucking idiots doing whatever they're told by FOX news and they don't give a shit about anything that doesn't directly pertain to them. Police brutality and random race motivated killings by officers? "Welp, I'm white and my dad's rich! So I'll just believe that bullshit fabricated story about the poor kid having a gun!" They're afraid to see the truth is what I think. They don't want to believe that the cops their dad told them to respect and obey are trigger happy hicks who will kill someone for being a different skin color. Another example being their inability and fear in admitting that the system they've been told is the very best (capitalism, and the "American Way") is actually patriotic propaganda and bullshit. They fear what they don't know and want comfort instead of knowledge, they truly are puppets. #294 -

anon (09/16/2015) [-] what an assertive shtlord. Almost all my relatives are conservative. Some of the had money from their parents (one uncle, and his son); there are 5 small businesses in my family; all of them except my uncle- ironically- started from workers wage, invested, and started their own business, and now employ others. My mom used to work 3 jobs, not even kidding- three- to put herself through college, and now shes the head of a medical ward. I worked two jobs going through school and I've been working stable for two years in my field of study. NONE OF US were given sht, we traded time- a finite resource to bolster our finances to invest; wether it be in a business or education. Fck off mate- your generalizations show how close minded you are. #329 -
anon (09/16/2015) [-] While I do agree with you that he is generalizing too much, I still agree with him that normally it will be the rich parents that give their kids cash or a good working place. And most of the time the rich ppl are capitalist.. I'm that way too, but when explaining my political views I just tend to call myself a liberal or socialist because it's "close enough" and easier to explain, and because my party doesnt matter, they should be looking at what I'm saying and not just getting hung up on my label HAHAHAHA!!!!!! You are fucking crazy. I'd vote him over Hillary any day, but the fucking guy is a believer in the politics of DECADES ago! He believes in the 70% wage gap myth that existed decades ago. He believes that blacks are unequal like they were decades ago.... and he is here to fix problems that have evolved into different things entirely! Wage gap is very close, and is from differing factors, such as job choices. (and I would like to add that Hillary paid women less than men for the same job with same experience, lol!) Blacks are not systematically discriminated against, it's individuals and even low at that, coupled with the fact that blacks are violent and cause a LOT of trouble. Maybe try to change troubled blacks Bernie. Now the red thumbs roll in from the sheep who assume everything in red is wrong and everything in green is right. Wasn't there top content about how retarded FJ is about this like... today? FJ is a huge circle jerk and people here have a mob mentality. When something is disliked by even one person, many others will dislike it simply because the ball has rolled down that side of the hill. #95 -
hkkkkkk (09/16/2015) [-] Yes lets spend those 18 trillions on overpriced private health care and WWIIesque war plans, because it is so much better Fun story: Today I learned that Oracea (40mg doxycycline) costs 400$+. My dead dog's doxycycline (100mg) only cost 20$. Anyone has a 3D printer so I can engineer my own damn doxycycline pill splitter? It would be cheaper than buying this shit that I could probably get for less than $1 in India #113 -
anon (09/16/2015) [-] The U.S. spends about .7 trillion on its entire military a year, like 4% of its gdp. All of Bernie's new policies would cost 18 trillion over his planned term. Not to mention the others that are in already in effect and are increasing our debt. The U.S. would default and crumble. That is if congress were to actually pass his policies. #147 -
anon (09/16/2015) [-] are you referring to is higher taxes for the rich? If so that would give us 50 billion a year www.thefiscaltimes.com/2015/07/08/Pros-and-Cons-Bernie-Sanders-50-Billion-Tax-Idea #155 -
hkkkkkk (09/16/2015) [-] It goes beyond just a financial transaction tax. www.businessinsider.com/bernie-sanders-wsj-18-trillion I don't feel it's worthwhile to debate over taxes. Sanders hasn't even revealed his detailed plan on taxes. My question is what alternative is there. How are you supposed to reduce income inequality without social programs? #103 -
hkkkkkk (09/16/2015) [-] "I'm too much of a retard to make a distinction between communism/latin american socialism and Scandinavian socialism" "The Wall Street Journal tells me Sanders plan costs 18 trillion SO IT MUST BE SO" The fact that you are a theme account tells me about your lack of identity. Do you ever even think for yourself? Firstly, it is in fact possible for one person to have more than one account (crazy how internet do dat). "An increase of about a third in total federal outlays." I don't know about you, but when we're talking about numbers that are in the tens of trillions already, 33% sounds like a pretty fucking enormous extra load to put on the economy..." And that's not even mentioning all the demonstrably false myths he keeps trying to convince the people of, when they're what his voters want to hear. #138 -
hkkkkkk (09/16/2015) [-] Income inequality isn't a myth, and is the #1 reason people support him To me it's not about actually getting all of his ideas implemented. It's about shifting the political spectrum of this country leftward, at least a little bit. You never hear GOP candidates talk about income inequality. Only Paul Ryan, and he's not running. Maybe Trump because he's a liberal at heart. The debate shouldn't be about whether it exists, but how to combat it. It will be the leading issue in the 2016 elections #126 -
anon (09/16/2015) [-] Ah yes, and the Scandinavians are doing so well, aren't they? Hesaidsarcastically.jpg Honestly it's not like any of your other presidential candidates are any fucking better. The states could use a bit more socialism. After all, the rest of the world already does and it's not like those countries are more shit than the US. In the end, Sanders seems like the most down to earth, intelligent guy from all the candidates and the rest of the world sincerely hopes you guys don't fuck up and vote for a clown like Trump or Clinton. Otherwise, God won't bother with 'blessing America.' honestly if any of the top 3 republicans or sanders get it we wont be too bad off. the reason im worried about sanders is he is a politician. hes not the kind of politician that should be on top either. what trump and fiorina have is team leading experience. you dont get to the top of business by being a one man army and helping your friends out #291 -
anon (09/16/2015) [-] Sorry but you're wrong. The easiest way to get to the top, is to screw over everyone around you TRUMP IS A JOKE, SANDERS IS A PUSSY, AND HILLARY IS A CRIMINAL, WE ARE FUCKED. #179 -
urmomsagrot (09/16/2015) [-] We don't need anymore fucking socialism. Not any better than the other developed countries?_ Are you even paying attention to whats going on right now?_ This "my feelings your feelings we need to help everyone" and holding hands bullshit has to stop and we really don't need to fall any farther into the socialism shithole as it is... The top richest percent ownes more than the other 99% combined. The rich class is not rich by working hard anymore, but by inheriting money and fumbling around with it. It's near impossible to become a rich class person via being sucessful. The rich classes pretty much controls media. Go more conservative and It'll end up an aristocracy. You fine with that? Well fine, be. Idc. Y'all are fuckin' bipolar retards on this site half of the time. #218 -
anon (09/16/2015) [-] JFK looked like a fucking mannequin and he's not exactly hated by contemporary voters he supports handouts. increase in welfare free college tuition free medical increase taxes on the rich. hes a self proclaimed socialist, he panders to the people who want the handout and not the people who are trying to do things for themselves. he supports black lives matter a cause that needs to have " unless blacks ended those lives" tacked onto it. if elected he will be a conscientious objector leading one of the worlds most powerful militaries. all in all hes a pure idealist that wants to try and force things that will not work The man is far from perfect, but "socialism is lazy people begging for free stuff" is a platitude on par with "conservatives are just bigots that don't like change". If you don't want to make an informed decision, don't be surprised when the polls don't reflect your views. im likely not going to vote either side. i tend to vote for a third party so the polls never reflect my choice. but thats not whats important. the polls should show who the rest of the US thiks will be the best leader. not whos the most popular or who they think will win You don't need to vote third party to avoid supporting a party you don't like. I hate the Democrats, personally, but my favorite politicians happen to be in that party; Trump, as dumb as he is, is also a hell of a lot better than most of the GOP. I mean, I voted third party in 2012 but only because I just didn't like any of the first party candidates. thats why i usually vote third party. libertarian is who i voted for in the last election. i voted for don young (R) because i agreed with his veiws on suicide. i live in alaska my vote doesnt matter, but its still my vote. its my one oppertunity to tell the government this is how i think the country should be run. something 40 percent of this country doesnt do To put it simple if you earn 100$ with 10% tax you really earn 90$ while if you earn 1000$ with the same tax you earn 900$ in reality. You have to agree it is far easier to live on 900$ than 90$. By increasing the taxes of the rich and decreasing for the poor you will lower the % of poor. In socialist countries it is the principle of recieve as you need, work according to ability I can agree with the part about experience, but when it comes to work ethics it varies from person to person. Personally I value my work over my health and I earn 153kr/h, 300 000kr a year (a little less than 19$/h with a yearly income of around 40 000$) and in my country that is actually a pretty lousy pay with the average pay being 450 000kr (around 55 000$). One of my friends on the other hand earn around 2 000 000kr a year (244 000$) and he barely even do his work and use every oppertunity he gets to skip it. So while experience may have something to do with the pay, work ethics in my opinion differs from person. Loool do you honestly think the 1% work harder than the rest of us. The vast majority of them made their millions by a) inheriting them or b) gaming the markets. Even most of the entrepreneurs just got lucky with their concept. When you are making millions why does it matter what the tax is? You'll never have to worry about feeding your family. It becomes a matter of how many private jets you can buy. #198 -
masanori (09/16/2015) [-] Where's the motivation to work your ass off and risk your income, lifestyle, and estate to become successful if you're just going to have the shit taxed out of you when you get there? As much as this whiny generation would hate to believe it, most rich people weren't born into their wealth, nor did they accidentally fall into it because they were in the right place at the right time. They risked what money they had to start a business or make an investment they saw as worthwhile, and there was every possibility they might fail and end up worse off because of it. But people who are afraid or just too dumb to know how to take such a risk sit around whining about how capitalism is holding them down and they need a handout from the rich who "don't deserve what they have" and never even realize capitalism is the means they need to escape their situation. Of course I realize those in profound poverty are essentially fucked, and yes I want to help them, but anyone who can work should. There's no reason why one person should be punished for working while another is rewarded for not working. That is inherently unfair on at least two levels and anyone who can't see that isn't worth the explanation. The top income bracket is ALREADY taxed 30% thirty fucking percent higher than the bottom, and that's just federal taxes. They're taxed harder on the state level as well. What about solving unemployment first? I'm going to do some math that won't be perfect because I'm using averages and am going to leave out the under 16 population and pretend we could somehow achieve 100% employment, but it should give you an idea. The U.S population of people over 18 is about 244,673,000. The unemployment rate is 5.1%, which gives us about 12,478,323 nonworking adults. The average income for an individual in the U.S. is $26,695, and the tax rates for that bracket are $922.5 + 15% of the amount over $9,225. Therefore, $26,695-$9,225=$17,470. $17,470 * .15=$2,620.5. $2,620.5+$922.5=$3,543. $3,543 * 12,478,323 = $44,210,698,389 increased federal revenue from taxes, plus no more government payout for welfare which potentially costs up to $668,000,000,000 per year, and we're making HUGE progress. The rich are already very, very heavily taxed relative to the lower class, and they use their income to increase or sustain their income. That's one of the fundamental differences between the rich and poor; the rich know how to turn money into more money. Take it away from them and they lose their ability to generate it. They are NOT an infinite resource. Repeatedly raising their taxes higher and higher will either drive them to sell their businesses and holdings and stash away the wealth or just leave the country. Probably the most logical comment I've read this morning. It's crazy how many people think that every wealthy person hasn't worked and has simply inherited the money. Even if they inherited it, kudos to them for taking care of their money and for those who have been able to make that sum of money grow. Thing is that the very wealthy pay less into the economy in ratio to what they have compared to the poor and middle class. The point of the 90% bracket is that the people in this bracket have most of their wealth in assets, not their bank accounts, so it's really pretty modest. When bullshit loopholes are filled in, it will no longer be necessary. Taxing people isn't "punishing" them, it's contributing to a healthy and efficient society. And if the common people are content, the rich can enjoy their lives of luxury without judgment or social instability while having a vibrant economy they can get whatever they could possibly want from. #225 -
masanori (09/16/2015) [-] You're right, taxation isn't punishment, but excessive taxation is. Say a law is passed increasing the taxes of anyone who makes over $1,000,000 to 50% from the current "$413,000+" rate of 39.6%(which is in addition to a standard deduction of $119,000). I'd just stop growing my business at that point and stay under $1m rather than working my ass off just to be hit harder by taxes. I'd stop adding new jobs to fill new roles as the business grew, stop increasing my contribution to the economy and the GDP, stop increasing my contribution to taxation (which would already grow by nature of ratios anyway), and sit where I was. Rich people are already taxed at higher ratios and already pay huge amounts in taxes because the more you make the more the taxable percentage of your income works out to. Frankly, I don't think it's fair at all to tax at different rates. 25% of $1,000 is $250, and 25% of $1,000,000 is $250,000. Sure, you have more money than you need, but you worked hard for that exact reason, and because you make more, you already automatically pay more in taxes. Not to mention most rich people make large contributions to their charities of choice and would probably make larger ones if not for high taxes though I suppose you could argue that they do this because the money would already be gone due to taxes anyway, so they'd rather choose where it goes themselves and then deduct it from their taxes. I'm okay with current taxation rates because I've accepted them, but if they go up MORE then I will pursue my ambitions in another country. I'm tired of hearing I don't deserve what I have-even though I have it due to my own decisions and labours-from people who won't even try or think a 9-5 job is all there is. #231 -
masanori (09/16/2015) [-] In terms of annual income? I'd think the number of individuals annually pulling in multi-million dollar personal incomes was infinitesimally small compared to the overall population and that even taxing them dry wouldn't solve our problems no matter how much they make, unless you plan on actually taking directly from their estates and investments. Most multimillionaires and billionaires are only so in terms of asset value and their actual personal incomes aren't anywhere close to the numbers you see on, say, Forbes 500. #109 -
anon (09/16/2015) [-] I don't care for Bernie, but I don't see how free medical and free college is a bad thing. quality. there are far better ways to make schools cost less. just saying "ok everyone its paid for have fun" devalues a college degree as well as encourages lower quality. we already have that issue in public schools where teachers show up and give barely enough of a shit until theyt make tenure and stop caring altogether. there are schools in the US labeled drop out factories. in my opinion we need to fix that before making higher education the standard yes so set a standard for the schools based on the needs of the people actually running it. say new professor must make 100,000 with six classes of no less than 15 students per semester. thats about 555 a class. approximately 2000 for 12 credits a semester. thats reasonable i think. good teachers will get more students and thus more money. after the first 15 students the school can scrape off a portion say the extra $55 a college education is a service. it truly is. anyone out there saying that if you dont go to college you wont succeed is failing you. neither of my parents have a college degree. they make 200,000 a year. i have an associates degree in criminal justice. i wash dishes for 24000 a year. education isnt whats most important. its drive motivation and work ethic like i said fix the public school system first and the college issue will solve itself with more people be eligible for those scholerships and grants schools and the federal already government give out #106 -
icouldgetsome (09/16/2015) [-] "he supports handouts" "he panders to the people who want the handout and not the people who are trying to do things for themselves" you have such a nuanced understanding of politics he already has support of people anting more handouts. why focus on that? if you keep getting the same people voting and trying to just keep those people coming back then how will you get more votes. unless you think the average voter is so simple minded to forget when you say something Unfortunately I have to agree with your conclusion, a lot of his ideals and ideas will not work in present America. He will not be fit to lead the worlds most powerful military. But I do believe that there is so much more to gain in decreasing the power that corporate America has over the leading democracy in the western world. On the long run, voting for ideals is what will change the world. #121 -
yorker (09/16/2015) [-] these people arguing with you are stupid. We've fucking voted for Republicans and Democrats (the same thing) for hundreds of years but we always get the same result. We're already fucked. Why not try something new? If we elect the same fucking types of people we'll keep getting the same results. The people on this website aren't exactly known for their intellect or having good political views so fuck what they say. Also they seem to LOVE José Mujica, but when you mention Bernie they get all up in arms about it. He's the closest thing to a José Mujica so these people are fucking idiots. pic related it's my desktop. #132 -
moonpoon (09/16/2015) [-] >Every president has been exactly the same Tell me yorker, even with his planned rich taxes, all of his policies would cost about 18 trillion dollars over his planned term. This alone would double our debt. Not to mention the policies that we already have in place that require debts. We would default and crumble. There must be something I don't understand, how does Bernie plan on putting even half of these promised policies through? How is he going to get them pass congress? I visit FunnyJunk often and as you stated, I don't know jack shit so please, enlighten me. #226 -
anon (09/16/2015) [-] "18 trillion dollars over his planned term." lol tell me no one is autistic enough to calculate how much we'd actually lose based on what a politician says in the primary.... Imagine the cost of what Obama said he would accomplish vs what he did. #144 -
yorker (09/16/2015) [-] In recent years most presidents have been the same. Democrats and Republicans are the same. NOBODY in the line-up is an original concept, they're all the same fucking thing we've seen in the past hundred years. We're NEVER repaying our debt, don't fucking kid yourself. The money to repay our debt doesn't even exist, who gives a shit if more debt has to be made to make progress? Do you really have a better candidate in mind? The hypocritical Trump, who's parents were immigrants and had products made in Mexico, and who is so rich and full of himself that he can't relate to the average working-class American? Hillary Clinton, a fucking joke, not even getting into that. Skawt Wawker, a fucking cowboy hick self-interested piece of shit? Mike Huckabee, who is a fucking piece of shit bible thumper and cheerleader for stupid cunt Kim Davis? Ben Carson, who thinks being gay is a choice even though he's a brain surgeon? America is fucked either way. At least Bernie is bringing fresh ideas to the table. And he means what he says. He was marching with Martin Luther King Jr. back when it was dangerous to promote civil rights. He was vouching for gay soldiers before "Don't ask don't tell" was a thing. Bernie is and always has been ahead of the curve and the fact that he has remained a true and genuine person for his entire careet without giving in to greed, bias and self-interest means he has my vote 100%. But you can vote for another fucking puppet, you can relate to them better anyways, obviously. #150 -
ponypussi (09/16/2015) [-] Also its not about paying off the debt, its about paying are dues for the time period. If we take too much money we will not be able to pay our dues, this is what happened to Greece. The only difference is the United States has no one to bail them out. In the end, no mater who is elected, I highly doubt we will have free healthcare or a wall around Mexico To be honest a major reason for Americas debt is the unnecessarily huge army. The US army costs more than the other seven largest armies combined. By halving the army funds you will still have the worlds largest army (by far) and be able to use more on social welfare. Source: pgpf.org/Chart-Archive/0053_defense-comparison ya but the U.S. is also the economic powerhouse of the world. It's gdp to military spending is 4.35%, making it the 11th highest. In addition, there are many nations that rely on the U.S. for protection such as , Japan, Canada, many of the pacific island nations ect www.indexmundi.com/g/r.aspx?v=132 Plus (going from a the-future-turns-to-shit-point-of-view) a powerful military is the strongest thing to wield. A lot of technological advances come from military uses, radio, rocketry, the splitting of the atom... all modified to help us live better. you, know, "War breeds necessity, and necessity is the mother of invention." Not to say cutting the military budget back a little prolly wont harm anything, but being military powerhouse and far more so then any other country, isnt necessarily a bad thing. Dont get me wrong, Im all for helping people get back on their feet. But thats just it, making sure they ACTUALLY GET BACK ON THEIR FEET. The point is to help them become productive members of society, not parasites of it. It was supposed to be an investment of sorts, everyone giving a little to help people out, so that person can go on and help others. It was that mentality that allowed us to hunt, and to become top dog. The whole was greater then the sum of the parts. But now its all about ME ME ME and dank memes so helping others results in a net loss for the whole, instead of a net gain, which it was originally meant to be. People want to be selfish, steal, and be lazy. they dont want to give back to society, and thats why I am honestly starting to disagree with Bernie. Good in idea, but wont work cuz of our culture. #240 -
mormagil (09/16/2015) [-] "The result is that most of the unemployed have been cut off. Only 26 percent of jobless Americans are receiving any kind of unemployment benefit, the lowest level in many decades. The total value of unemployment benefits is less than 0.25 percent of G.D.P., half what it was in 2003, when the unemployment rate was roughly the same as it is now. It’s not hyperbole to say that America has abandoned its out-of-work citizens." - Paul Krugman, NY times. The car itself is worth nothing, original or not. He was offered it by an Arab sheikh, who thought that he really needed the money. He said that if the money materializes, he would donate it all to charity. The truth is that men like this, who do everything in their power to help their country, become historical icons. He won't die and be forgotten, his existence and the principles of his presidency will live on in the country of Uruguay as an example of how a country should be run. The point is about individuality, when two people die in an explosion, each person died separately, their family grieves, but they can't experience their death except from the outside, death is always personal, it can't be shared. just like being born, a person is always born, twins are not the same person in two bodies but two separate people. even siamese twins have two distinct personalities. But don't get too technical with the quote, it's maybe more about something to think about rather than a logic puzzle. #45 -
micekill (09/15/2015) [-] if a machine were made to feel another person's thoughts as if they were your own, and it was hooked up to a dying man, would the alive man experience the death of the other guy? would he really experience it, or would he just look at it like "wow, so now this guy died" if it were perfect tho, would the alive man actually die or keep on living brain dead these are questions that keep me awake at night wow, like does the brain just shut off or is there like a crazy hallucinogenic dream you go through as your brain starts slowly dying, turning thoughts into mumble. but still conceivable thoughts. what does death feel like, when you stop moving and stop talking, does anything more happen there. They say it takes about 15 minutes for your brain to be completely non rescuable without oxygen, so it takes at least 15 minutes from your body to go limp and stop breathing to your last thought escaping you. holy shit, now i can't stop thinking about this. #48 -
micekill (09/15/2015) [-] it has been observed that the human brain goes into a sleep kind of wavelength when the person dies. i remember also about a guy that was dead for 5-7 minutes and would talk non-stop about him going to hell and back, his hallucinations could be well explained by the brain slowly shutting off and keeping his conscience "alive" until the last moment. also, i have no sources because i don't remember where i checked this stuff yeah i remember reading that, it makes sense since hallucinogenics simply mess with serotonin receptors in the brain, when you are deprived of oxygen, the brain probably starts doing funky things after a while. maybe mimicing the effects, or maybe it's something we can't explain yet, maybe there is something unknown to science happening.... but now we're getting into the fill in the gap logic fallacy Imagine the video games, they will be like pre-programmed dreams that you completely remember, but the immersion is like the real thing, imagine the villainy that could take place, creating a scenario where a person is in danger and REALLY feels like she is in danger, when in reality it's just a simulation and she's just sitting at home with a helmet on or something, we're talking real inception style shit. Most people don't know very many great leaders of history. In America, the ones the average person knows are usually leaders that contributed to the nation or foreign leaders that contributed to the western world as a whole, such as Washington or Augustus. I imagine if one went to the nation of Mali or possibly even another West African country, they would find more people who know of Musa and his great deeds. I believe it depends on the location a bit. #313 -
anon (09/16/2015) [-] I don't think most Americans acknowledge that we descend from Africa, so they certainly don't care about that. Because nothing interesting ever really comes out of Africa other than extreme poverty and violence. I'm not disagreeing with him. I'm just stating why most westerners overlook Africa. Not much you can hear from there other than bad news. Though, I still take interest in learning why. If great men must die like that then so be it. If i died knowing I left this world a better place, being a good hearted human being who gave everything and expected nothing, I would be happy.

People forget that once your kid is old enough to form a coherent sentence, they're old enough to understand logic.

lujan (09/13/2015) [-] It's a really strange movie because they tried to do so many things in the movie that it's hard to classify it into one genre. Like thriller, fantasy, drama, comedy, action, and maybe a few more elements. It wasn't terrible by any means though. It was drawn out a little to long. Radcliffe did do his part very well, but a lot of the other people did not have the same potential and experience that Radcliffe has, so the whole thing came of almost like a TV movie. And they spent too much time on the scenes where Radcliffe's character was reminiscing his relationship with the girl. So if someone is a fan of Radcliffe or has some spare time then, yeah, watch this movie. Otherwise you're not missing much, just another odd movie. Not as bad as Odd Thomas though. I didn't HATE Odd Thomas I just wish they didn't make it so predictable. And i get your points about the movie. They reached for it, but just fell short. I felt like they spent way too much time on the narrative and less time on expanding what the horns meant instead of just giving us like a brief 5 minutes explanation at the end. There was a lot they could have done but i see your point about it feeling like a tv movie Nah the movie premise stunk but his acting and his american accent was amazing.
