It gets old fast. Never have I ever wished for more cutscenes in a game. It's a clone of the batman arkham series with a twist on NPCs that doesn't quite make up for the fact that there is no story. The final boss is easily defeated by quick time events(huge minus IMO). But you can toy with Uruks by pitting them against each other. Don't expect the campaign to satisfy you. You must dare to make your own games by claiming Uruks as your own and turning them against each other.

No offense, but if you people think he played an accurate Drax, you have no idea what you're talking about.
Drax dates back to the seventies and is a genius tactician badass, not some random barbarian side character who can't win a simple fight.
I did like Drax's character in the movie but it just wasn't at all the real Drax.
User avatar #115 - beerterror (09/13/2014) [-]
Except, since before the infinity sagas he's a hulk-level minded giant child. I dare say that Abnett&Lanning's version was even better than the classic one.
User avatar #101 - nigeltheoutlaw (09/13/2014) [-]
Honestly, who cares? Most of the movies have made significant changes to the characters from the comics, and oftentimes they are better for it.
#69 - swiftshadow (09/13/2014) [-]
Your right, Drax was different in the movie than the comic. He seems a lot more Zen like in the current series and less angry. I also felt Gamora was to calm compared to her comic counter part. Drax is also an alien in the movie, but a human in the comic series. Also rocket didn't yell out "Bam killed you" even once during the movie.

I do think the characters portrayal fit the movie verse real well though. I think Batista did a great job at portraying this version of Drax. I was even impressed with Vin Diesels voicing of Groot, even though in the trailers I remember feeling that his voice acting seemed so odd and out of place.

I think the biggest problem people seem to have is not accepting the fact that the comic verse and the movie verse are different universes all together. I wouldn't be surprised if one day marvel gave the movie verse an official designation like Earth 616, the mainstream marvel comic verse or any of the other universes that have been given official designations.
#156 - alexanderh (09/14/2014) [-]
Actually, that was only a catchphrase very shortly. Quill commented on it, and rocket replied with something like "what? I can't have a catchphrase now?" and he dropped it, as far as I remember.
He only had that catchphrase for the start of the guardians comic with Tony Stark, not anywhere else.
#161 - swiftshadow (09/14/2014) [-]
I don't think I've seen him kill anyone in recent issues, but he had been doing it for a little bit. I will have to go back and look at what issue he last said it in. I still feel like he should have said it at some point.
#162 - alexanderh (09/14/2014) [-]
I'm reading that comic again right now, from the start. I'll let you know.
#164 - swiftshadow (09/14/2014) [-]
Well I appreciate that. I am personally getting very excited for the upcoming planet of the symbiotes story line.
#165 - alexanderh (09/14/2014) [-]
It's in guardians of the galaxy (2013) issue two. That's the first time he does it. He does it again in issue three. In issue four, he kills a guy without saying it. I'm now at issue 6, and it hasn't come up again.

Also, do you know where I can find a complete list of all comics the guardians have been in? I've tried the marvel website, but it seems to be lacking.
#166 - alexanderh (09/14/2014) [-]
Nevermind, he does it again in issue 8
#167 - alexanderh (09/14/2014) [-]
And that's the last time it's mentioned. He has the catchphrase in issue 2-8. They do have some encounters in the time between then and now (for example with the x-men) where he doesn't say it. And in issue 8, Quill talks to Brand (in charge of the SWORD-owned space station) about it. Here's what they say:
Rocket: Blam! I just murdered you!
Brand: Is that his catch phrase?
Quill: Yeah, I find it disturbing.
Brand: It REALLY is. You should say something.

And that's the last time it was mentioned in the comics since it was introduced. It was fairly short-lived, but it was his catch phrase for a short while.
#171 - swiftshadow (09/14/2014) [-]
I remember that conversation He had with Abagail about it. I still find it quite entertaining.

I must apologize because I do not know where to find the list in which you seek. I started collecting Guardians for the first time when they launched the current series. Its only been about 2 years ( and thousands of dollars ago ) that I got into actually reading comics.

I did find out the Marvel Cinema Verse is designated Earth - 199999
#172 - alexanderh (09/14/2014) [-]
It's a pretty great series, yeah.

And that's alright. I haven't been able to find much either, and the stuff I could find, I've already read. And I can't actually afford to collect the comics, so I just found torrents and websites with them.
But if you like a slightly darker and more mad max-esque take on the whole deal, the new Rocket Raccoon series is pretty great.

And the old Rocket Raccoon comics are hilarious. It's filled with puns (Rocket has a walrus companion called Wal Russ). The story is pretty funny as well.

If you need an online place to read it, I recommend viewcomic.com
It's free and they've got a fairly large selection of comics. I can also find the torrent for you, if you want a cbr format one.
#173 - swiftshadow (09/15/2014) [-]
Thanks. I don't usually like reading comics online unless they were designed as web comics. I also have so much to read already ( I trade my comics with a friend to double our reading material) so I probably won't have time to get around to it. If you like spider man, I gotta say I am personally a huge fan of the ultimate spider man series. I can also suggest some good non marvel non superhero series as well if your ever interested.
#174 - alexanderh (09/15/2014) [-]
It's mostly been Guardians for me (because of the movie), and a passing interest in Deadpool.
I don't really read many comics to be honest. I've just been kind of obsessed with Guardians because of some similarities between me and the background story of a certain character in the movie.
#175 - swiftshadow (09/15/2014) [-]
Are you also the child of a ruler of an intergalactic kingdom?
#176 - alexanderh (09/15/2014) [-]
Not that guy.
Rocket. His feelings towards the people who turned him into what he is now reflect my feelings towards my step father. I recognized the emotion shown in the bar scene on Knowhere in the movie. I've felt very similar emotions.
It's kind of hard to explain, and it sounds ridiculous when I say it ("I identify with a genetically enhanced raccoon from outer space"), but that's the way I feel.
#177 - swiftshadow (09/15/2014) [-]
I was debating between asking what I asked and asking if you were also a genetically modified raccoon. Damn. I think I understand what your saying though, even if it sounds strange to you.
#178 - alexanderh (09/15/2014) [-]
Every single time I've said it, I always feel like people are going to ridicule me or something. People always seem to understand, somehow.

But thank you for making jokes about it. No really. It helps.
#179 - swiftshadow (09/15/2014) [-]
Just remember the expression Life Imitates Art. There are plenty of people in the world that can relate to fictional characters for one reason or another. Characters are created in a way to help people bond with them and grow emotionally attached to them. The most effective way to do that is to give the character traits and experiences people can relate to. While I can't say off the top of my head that I can see parallels between me and fictional characters like that, I can say that I have grown attached to characters before and I will admit I completely broke into tears while reading the final few chapters in Peter Parkers run of Ultimate Spider-Man. I grew extremely attached to the character compared to the 616 universe version of him.

I find joking about almost anything helps. It helps me get through the hard situations in life. My biggest problem is I sometimes crack jokes in situations to people who don't feel the same and then shit gets worse.
#180 - alexanderh (09/15/2014) [-]
Thank you.
Seriously. thank you.
#77 - Stevethewizard (09/13/2014) [-]
I thought it was a relatively established fact that movie-verse and Ultimate universe were the same (hence Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, who is the one they based Ultimate universe Nick Fury on).
#155 - swiftshadow (09/14/2014) [-]
Movie verse is stand alone from the other universe. In the ultimate Universe the avengers don't exist, they are actually called The Ultimates.

The reason Sam Jackson is Nick Fury is because they used his likeness when the ultimate universe was created so he decided he wanted the part and made a deal with marvel. In the 616 universe, Nick Fury Senior ( white Nick Fury) was replaced with Nick Fury Junior ( black Nick Fury) to make him more recognizable to people who jumped from the movie into the comics.

While I don't read much beyond Ultimate spider-man, All New Ultimates and special events, I find the characters to have a different feel to them as well in the ultimate verse compared to the 616 and movie verse. I don't think Tony Stark had as much of an Alcohol problem in the ultimate verse, and any time I see him, he doesn't seem to be as egotistical as his counter parts. Captain America also became president in the Ultimate Verse. The are definitely 2 different universes, and I feel marvel should give it a Designation like 616 and various other universes have.
#107 - angelusprimus (09/13/2014) [-]
Its not though, Marvel is picking and choosing and then adding new stuff to movie universe.
For example Cap is very much NOT ultimate Cap, but is very close to 616 universe. Fury is ultimate Fury, but most characters are not. Stark is interesting combo of the both.

Batista is a good actor, that's just the way the character is supposed to be.

you cant really blame him just some of the lines were really dry for the situation. thats my only complaint. just the lines in the prison really. they were funny just the delivery was kinda dry but thats how it was supposed to be

There wasn't a single thing in the movie I didn't like, except the shitiness of the after-credits scene. I'm not old enough to give a shit about Howard the Duck. They should have given Cosmos some lines.

from what ive heard the guy who makes the after credits stuff did that just to mess with everyone. they dint plan on doing anything with it like most after credit things

Agreed! I'm wrestling retarded and had no idea he wasn't an actor. I thought that the way Drax was portrayed was very enjoyable, and I find je is actually the most quoted character of the film. After Groot of course.
