| Conversation is great, and there will always be people trying to be offensive just for laughs or whatever, I agree. I just don't think any of it should effect things. If you're offensive to just be offensive, you should be ignored. If you're offend by every little thing, you should be ignored. Conversation is great, and will happen to those really wanting to converse, those on either side of the spectrum just being petty or contrite should be ignored by those seeking conversation, so the other side becomes trolls feeding trolls in an infinite but powerless loop The problem comes in between when you're offended and someone else doesn't understand why. People also tend to take it personally when another person is offended by something they like, and over react. Also on this site in particular most people being offended just get smothered in reds. That's a good point, but a lot of thumbs on this site are also herd mentality, see green vote green and vise versa. If only we didn't take ourselves so seriously maybe | ||

adrenalinbbq (11/16/2015) [-] What? Where are you getting this? This content is explicitly showing him giving an example of one of her voted for policies and calls her out by name and says how bad a mistake that was. HOW is that indirect? Here's the thing though. All he did was provide facts, fact 1- it was a bad idea to go into the middle east because we destabilized the region, fact 2- Hillary voted to go into the middle east. He said the decision was stupid but didn't say she was stupid, even if the difference ultimately only looks semantic i respect that he pulled his punch when it would have been very easy to continue onto a tirade about how she gets sponsored by big corporations and isn't the kind of person we want in the whitehouse. TL;DR he stuck to the facts. #139 -
adrenalinbbq (11/16/2015) [-] option 1 would have been to let Saddam's regime do whatever he wanted. That wasn't going to be acceptable. option 2 was to bomb his bases and hopefully kill him from air raids then let the region do whatever. That would have had the same effect as what we have now, but it would have happened 10 years earlier. What DID happen was we tried to establish a stable government there and arm them to defend themselves. It didn't work 100%, but at least some of it is still there and defends itself from ISIL attack...with our help. Saddams regime? You know it was ultimately found that there was no prewar cooperation between Saddam and al-Qaeda, in addition to no weapon of mass destruction being found. If we hadn't fucked with things i'm not saying it would have been perfect, but aside from them possibly deciding not to give the US oil they likely would be a hell of a lot less war-torn than they are now. One of the main selling points of ISIS is "Fuck you america" and i wonder why that works so well? Shit man even the real terrorists in the region weren't half as well trained or well armed as we thought they were. Oh and if you're talking about regime change in terms of politics and spreading democracy to the area then i guess our next stop better be china, huh? Oh but wait we're not going to do that because they make all our shit and we're in debt to them. It's not about the need to spread democracy and freedom to the area it's a thinly veiled excuse to go in and take something we want. #158 -
adrenalinbbq (11/17/2015) [-] Cooperation or not, it's never a good idea to let a radical dictator in the middle of the desert do whatever he wants. I've talked to locals from around Balad Air Base personally and they were thankful for what we did. | ||

| You've got an odd definition of funny. What you're describing sounds more like shock value than humor to me. That's as near to a good definition of "funny" as you'll get. The unexpected is by far the biggest source of the feeling of mirth in humans. Example: think of any joke. Here, I'll give you one: "Why does Dr. Pepper come in a bottle?" The rational thought process would be to think "well it's an efficient way to distribute a soft drink.." but when it is revealed that the answer is "because he's single", it has become humor, because you were mislead or caught off-guard by the wit of the speaker. The revelation is what results in mirth. By the same token, you would think this story might be a sad one where a guy connects on an emotional level with someone with whom he had only carnal connections beforehand, as you would imagine any rational person would do in the situation the poster had set up. However, it is humorous in that the story took an unexpected turn; he did not make a rational decision, but rather a very outlandish decision. This bait-and-switch form of wit is the very crux of the human sense of humor. The punch ranges from spoonerism, to homonyms, all the way to "basement-dweller turns out to be a complete dick". "Jarring" is perhaps the most extreme feeling elicited from this "witty deception", but it falls within the realm of humor quite comfortably. | ||

hassoutobi (11/15/2015) [-] 1-No I didn't. I'm never calm. 2-Even though you won't use it it'S STILL IMPORTANT because it develops your brain and helps you think faster and utlize logic/reason more easily. My old Chemistry Teacher, for example, had to work with a shit-ton of calculus and he admited he didn't use any of it to this day however he's a fucking god at teaching because he's just too good at using logic and reason to explain chemistry to even the most stupid high school kids ( Bear in my I live in Brazil so our definition of stupid is far beyond yours ). Seriously, alright you might not like math but learning it WILL help you in your future because while you migh not enjoy it is, along with reading and discusing things in general, the way your brain works out and develops itself. Also just because you're not good at it doesn't mean you should start whining about i and want to never learn it ever again. Actually it's the countrary. My father also teaches chemistry and he FUCKING HATED History/Geography yet he knows so much nowadays he could probably teach those subjects straight out of his head to at least high school kids. Why? because instead of giving up on them he focused on studying them more than other subjects to guarantee that he wouldn't fail his classes because of his resent for them. Instead of avoiding his weakness he worked to remove it from his life. You should do that to. TL;DR Study math, or I'll do you. Math isn't the answer to everything. Ofcourse i said i was required to learn it so i'm damn well going to learn it, but i'm going to bitch about it the whole way because that's part of my process. Also if i catch you tryin to do me we're gonna have a problem man... #46 -

| 1. I never said you did 2. Yes, you're entitled to your opinion, but that doesn't mean that opinion isn't completely shit 3. The majority of spoils are on posts of that topic, and people browse the comments then get pissy(like you) when they see a spoiler 4. A week long ban is still over the top 5. Whether it's intentional or not, asking for a ban for any length of time is childish 1) You implied it 2) Agree to disagree 3) It's more about the person and the way in which they did the spoilers, had it just happened in conversation i wouldn't be bringing it up but it's the fact that it was done with malicious intent. 4)I agree, in retrospect. A day would probably be more fitting (i forget how much people can tend to live on this site) 5) Again we're going to have to agree to disagree on that, considering the circumstances in which i was asking for the ban it seems reasonable, because the guy was being a cunt. It's been nice talking to you, have a nice day... As far as i can tell we're not going to come to an agreement here and i don't feel like arguing back and forth all day for nothing. | ||

| Just because you don't consider it freedom of speech, doesn't mean anything. Admin considers this site a safe haven and everyone has the freedom to say whatever they want(within reason), you even said a couple times you know admin won't do it, so why even bother saying you think they should be banned? It's childish to think someone should be banned because you're stupid enough to have something spoiled, you're no better than the people that try to get someone arrested for bullying them, it's petty and pathetic. 1) I don't give a shit about fallout 4 2) It's called an opinion, considering you're arguing freedom of speech i do hope you know what that is? (It means that even thought i know nothing will change i still said what i thought should happen, people do it in politics all the time) 3) Running across a post that spoils something for you is in no way stupid, or the fault of the person who ran into said post. That's like saying "Oh he ended up in the blast zone, it must be his fault" 4) Even in america there are limitations to freedom of speech and i wasn't suggesting a perma bann, as i said already. What i was saying should be done was a week long ban as a slap on the wrist to let people know that deliberately spoling new games isn't cool or tolerated. 5) I'm only talking about those who do it deliberately and without warning, literally all you'd need to do is put up a spoiler tag or a warning and whatever, reader beware. In this case i'm talking about malicious spoilers, because nobody likes those.
