My degree's a work in progress. I don't have much yet.

Everything's a work in progress, but I get what ya mean. It's tough to find a job when you're a student, especially if you're living on campus and the college isn't anywhere near your home town. I've seen men physically fight over a job interview for a shitty minimum wage campus job. Shit's crazy out there. Just poke around, see what businesses are out there, and find one that you don't think you'd totally hate that may want to hire you. As far as motivation, I can't help much. I was pretty much solely motivated by the fact that I hated every roommate I had so far and I was hell-bent on affording a place of my own. It didn't work out that way, but hey at least I had a crappy check rolling in every few weeks so I could buy extra food or some additions for my sound system.

If you don't find a job/are struggling, volunteer.
Or...you can start a project of your own.
Program something, and then show it to potential employers once you graduate.
This will show them how good you are, or motivated you can be.

I'm not suicidal but there are times where I seriously wonder if I'll ever find a point to my life. Yes, I finally figured out my major, but I've never had lifelong dreams or goals and I feel like a piece of shit for it. I've grown up with the "if you don't go to college, you're a dumb shit and you'll never have a good life" thing. It's tough cuz now I realize I really don't want to be in college but I don't know where to go or what to do.

I'm right there with you. I thought I wanted to do clinical psychology but I got to thinking about how I really just didn't like anything about college and I tried to discreetly drop out. I switched to a local community college and I was going to drop out from there so it wouldn't be a huge surprise to my family and so I could hopefully secure a stable job to rely on when my time at college was up. I had a friend who barely graduated high school with a 2.4 GPA and she got a job as a shift manager and some knock-off Sheetz soon afterward. She makes decent money and she lives with her boyfriend in a decent apartment, so I'm not saying you can't get anywhere without a college degree. I'm just kinda selfish and narcissistic so I wanted something more than that for myself. I hated school but I hated the idea of working the same job from my 20s until the day I retired or died. So I thought to myself, "what's something I always thought was cool and badass and awesome to do, but never thought I could actually do myself?" For me, the answer was to work on one of the higher levels of law enforcement like DEA or SBI or something like that. I have no idea if I'm gonna make it, and I really don't have much idea what I'm doing, but I'll be damned if I don't go for it.

I mean, what's to keep you from aiming way higher than you think you can go? Worst case scenario, you fail and end up right where you expected. That job that doesn't need a college degree won't turn you down just for having one. It'll always be there, but the chance to score something huge won't be. Maybe I'm stupid and impulsive, but I think you could surprise yourself if you stuck with it a while longer and aimed for something big. Hell, at least it'll make a cool conversation starter. "Yo, I'm gonna be the person to invent self-regenerating food and spray-on shoes".

This may be an odd suggestion, but you might try watching an old episode of a cartoon that came to my mind while reading your comment. www.watchcartoononline.com/thundercats-2011-episode-4-song-of-the-petalars
It's the Thundercats 2011 remake. This particular episode deals a lot with life and wondering what the point of it all is. It's just one mans opinion, but I think the show deserves an award just for this episode alone. It's beautifully written and the message just hit's home every time.

If anyone reading this can vouch for the show, I'd appreciate it.
