There is so much you could do to beat it back. Talk with friends, do things you enjoy. If all else fails, medication is a common choice.

Well if it gets to the point where depression occurs, you could tell your family that stopping you from doing what you enjoy isn't healthy for you. A lot of older adults have trouble seeing video games as a legitimate hobby/interest.
