Well a lot of feminists blame the male "hierarchy" for bayonettas design when it was in fact a woman that designed her. Okay so maybe the game devs wanted her to be a girl, but the designer designed her, if she's "overly" sexualized then it's on the shoulders of who designed her, not the suppose male hierarchy within the company. Do games sometimes "pander" to the young male demographic? Of course, that is their biggest clientele. In any other business the caterer would cater to the clienteles likes and dislikes. Sometimes in the gaming industry their are obvious extremes and yes some of them are outright bad and maybe even on the misogynistic side, but here is the truth. Most game companies don't do it just to do it. In a lot of games and other media yes sometimes women wear skimpy clothing that would be considered revealing, but here is the thing, isn't that already something wrong with society? Let's look at tracey from gta 5, she might be considered overly sexualized, but she is just an interpretation or representation of what modern teenage girls are like. It's meant to convey something, she's not suppose to be a likeable character. Saying women can't be "sexualized" in games is like saying their can't be any bad guys because that would fair misrepresentation of human beings since nobody on this earth is bad. Slutty women exist in real life and so do bad people. The issue comes from whether or not that women of bad person is there for the purpose of pandering to the audience or if they have a legitimate role in the game/story. The little mermaid from the wolf among us is a good example. Kinda spoilery so be warned. She is a prostitute, but she is also a valuable source of information for bigsby, yes she is on the sexualized side, but that is the reality of the situation. Strippers exist in real life, but her sole purpose isn't eye candy, she is actually a valuable character to the story. Basically misogyny isn't as big a deal in games as you think.
For most people it wouldn't and shouldn't matter.
Unfortunately most feminazis believe that the entire project was designed solely by men with no respect for women, because in their opinion no self respecting woman would be able to design such a game.
Yeah, I think that feminists should be more worried about real issues like actual prostitution and the real mistreatment of women. Kinda like the whole loli porn issue. Yeah some of it is bad, but wouldn't that effort be better place finding and detaining real criminals that actually rape little girls? All i'm saying is that their seems to be too much focus on the digital market right now when in the real world that issue isn't resolved yet. I think it comes down to incompetence so they go after something that is easier to go after. Guess they got fucked, gamers might be lazy, but games are all most of us have and we'll defend it tooth and nail.
- Spoiler alert, come on, man. I'm only halfway through season 2.
