He shouldn't even be using quotations because he is not quoting anything and it is already given that he said what is in the quotation marks. In other words... the author of a book wouldn't quote a narration.

Ah. I'm British, so I haven't learnt the 'illogical' American use, haha. The way I've always learned and taught it is the way that he/she uses it.

It's no problem, countries (especially the US) are different. Things like temperature, dates, grammar, spelling, and other shits are all different, tho one day I hope the US can change it's imperial system to metric. One can only hope :\

Yeah, I suppose it's better for future generations, but it's tricky since there are still those - like myself, in fact - who think in imperial; I can judge pretty accurately someone's height in feet 'n inches, but I'm awful with cm. shameful, hah
