infidel has only ever been used to insult others. It's the equivilant of saying "heathen" - implying that the person is inferior and unclean.

Although it may have negative connotations, it is still accurate. The word is used as is its definition ie people without a god more specifically allah. Just like calling a person black, it may not have positive connotations it is still an accurate description

Difference is, you can't equate it to calling someone black. A closer comparison would be the word "nigger." "Black," nowadays, is not commonly used as an insult at all, whereas the aforementioned two are.

Infidel doesn't simply mean someone without god. It means someone who is inferior specifically because they don't worship allah.

No definition i can find has any mention of inferiority, only stating a lack of faith, more often of the Christian god

I would not use wiki for definitions of words. Every dictionary type site and my dictionary says only 'one without god' or 'one without faith' etc. Other words such as nigger, or gringo also include as part of the definition derogatory or offensive. Although the word may be often used negatively, its definition is not a derogatory one

But it's the usage that counts. Never had I not heard it used in a non-derogatory sense. While the definition of "faggot" can also be said to simply mean homosexual, it was specifically made to target a single group as inferior. The same situation happens with "infidel"

Again, faggost in most dictionaries has a note about the offensive use, although i agree infidel is often used in a negative tone of voice, it does not mean that in every situation it is negative

Because of that the cabbie wasn't a Muslim he listen to all kind of songs, but the Muslim wants to follow his religion and properly asked him to turn it of, and the cabbie could do it and show some respect. This is why we can't reach the worlds utopia!
