To be fair, dueling gets boring after awhile. It's fun to spice it up by trying to screw the host somehow, or sneak up on them. I never mind when I'm on the receiving end anyway, because the pvp isn't meant to be its own system with good competitive balance and complete fairness like many other pvp games. Invaders are always meant to be the biggest and most difficult challenges a host can face, and just another way for the game to tell you you're not good enough.

The ability to take the death in stride is what you should be going for, since death in Souls games can be very controlled with how easy it is to die. You can use it as a tool to help your own journey. Either as a learning tool, or a way to keep your souls safe. If you were just going to accept death anyway, then you should have prepared yourself to lose them somehow. Mentally and literally.

I'm not saying "git gud" because there are a lot of instances where invaders are just too good themselves. Either their gear or ability or the netcode is just too much. But Dark Souls is less about overcoming challenges and more about enduring even when shit is at its worst.

I can understand how annoying it can be to deal with invaders who do that, I believe me I've been on both ends plenty of times, but when the only objective is to fuck each other up, people are going to find ways to do it well and ensure victories. You can't blame them for using all of their tools available, because it would be stupid not to. Honor just seems like something someone who can't take a loss would spew, which just seems silly to me when Dark Souls is about constantly losing and still being ready for another go.

Yes. It absolutely does, but then in the case of dueling the host can make it completely unfair even if it's 1v1 thanks to having access to healing. Which a lot of hosts do, because they don't want to die, and I don't blame them.

I just don't think it has a place in Dark Souls. That doesn't mean people shouldn't, because proper dueling can be a lot of fun and I'm sure people love it. I just don't see why people get so upset at invaders who decide to be creative or intelligent in using their environment. It only makes sense to considering they 1) can and 2) it makes tonal and thematic sense.

Invaders are assholes. They're people who decided to say "fuck saving the world, I just want my blood/humanity." Of course they're gonna be dicks, because such is life in Dark Souls. Everything is a dick. Invaders shouldn't be an exception when they have even more ability to do so since the game is trying to be dickish, but fair.

I have had far more invaders heal than hosts, and I've done my far share of invades and getting invaded.

I'm not saying invaders shouldn't be dicks, just that the game favors invaders over hosts.
The reason people get so mad is because it's not fun getting through a hard area, only to get invaded by someone with a perfected build while you're just using pve gear and spells.
Alot of invaders don't have perfected builds, yes, but they're generally the fun ones who are trying new things and messing around. Not just running through the level and waiting in a group on enemies.

Because the game has to be generally fun and fair to be good. Invasions are a chance for the game to indulge in what it truly wants to be. And it does suck. I hate it when it happens, too. It's annoying, humiliating, and potentially infuriating if you lose a lot of souls/humanity. But I know that's the point, and I guess wish people were really onto that, too, because then they wouldn't get as salty over losses.

It makes it more fun when you realize how shitty the situation is, and can adapt so even if you do die, you can mitigate your losses.

I guess I'm not trying to invalidate anyone's feelings here, despite probably doing just that. I just feel I have a good way of handling it, and want to help people deal with it with my own perspective.

I just think that the fights should be balanced out a bit more, maybe by making the invader have something to lose as well.

this is entirely my own personal opinion, but I've invested aroud 2.000 hours in dk2 (counting xbox360, ps3 and SOFT in ps4) most of wich was dueling, invading, getting a new build to invade some more and so on.

So, I've been trought some shit, this game has made me rage to the point where I have rage quitted more than what I'm willing to admit,but also in return, I've had some great experiences, I have been all from an honorable guy to a complete dick head in many occasions, anything you can mention, I've done it probably. can't remember ganking someone intentionally doe

my point is, this is never going to change and the game becomes a lot more fun when you just accept it. dk3 will have the same issues

so just do whatever that you find fun at the moment.

I'm just not going to give invaders the pleasure as I laughably flop around in the hopes of winning an impossible battle at such an early stage in my game.

well, for what it's worth, haven't seen yet a single hacker in the ps4 version not sure of the pc version

still, it was pretty fucked up back when it was literally filled with hackers, didn't get many in the xbox version, but I saw some pretty nasty stuff on PC.

str builds generally are the ones that can poise-break hackers and knock em off the edges, in battles with hackers, the only way to defeat them is the environment

If you're doing lazors, it can be expensive, but I can get two pairs of prescription glasses, plus the examination for....I think it was 200 dollars. My current glasses I have had for nearly ten years. That isn't a bad price. You just gotta shop around.
