My dad still likes watching old TV shows that he grew up with even though they are corny, outdated and have the same resolution as a shitty cell phone camera. My point was I don't see how so many people like them since most of the people on this site aren't old enough to have grown up with them. You can't have nostalgia for something that came before you were born. That would be like someone alive today saying they are nostalgic for the 1600s. That's not how nostalgia works.

super metroid, super mario rpg legend of the seven stars. joe and mac 2 lost in the tropics, contra 3, super smash bros, super mash bros melee, eternal darkness sanity requiem, final fantasy 1-7, chrono trigger, legend of dragoon... to name a few

Yes I've played most of those. They were fun when they were new. But now? Those games are rather boring. Besides, you don't need the consoles to play them. You can find roms and play them on a computer. Unless you are super nostalgic or like games that are simple and (in most cases*) super difficult, I don't see the attachment to these old games.

*Most games were difficult to make them seem longer. Lack of saving so you have to start over. Yeah. Think about the Super Mario Bros. for example. The game wasn't really that long, but having to restart when you died meant it took a long time and a lot of skill to actually finish it completely.
