Most aheist I have met in real life, or even just like to annoy online, tend to believe that they have all the answers, and if you believe in religion, you must immediately think all science is wrong, then say you are closed minded. I find that rather ironic as the whole big bang theory was started by a priest (If I have my information correct)

Revised: Agnosticism is the only valid intellectual answer. Atheists are trying to justify acting smart. And religious people are trying to justify acting dumb.
#282 - RandomAnonGuy (02/19/2013) [-]
Agnosticism is a modifier, not a position. You can't answer a question about belief with a word relating to knowledge.
Agnostic theist, gnostic atheist. You believe in god but don't claim certainty. You don't believe in god and you claim certainty. That's how the word works.
I honestly find people who talk about agnosticism being the "only valid position" to be farther up their own ass than anybody but the banana man.

I would argue that there are no answers to questions concerning beliefs, therefore the only logical way to respond is with a word relating to knowledge. If I can't answer your question because it has no answer. Then I will simply state that there is no answer. It doesn't make me a snob or an elitist. Just intelligent. How do you like them bananas?
#445 - RandomAnonGuy (02/19/2013) [-]
"Do you believe X exists?"
"I believe there is no answer"
If you don't care about the topic enough to come up with an answer, that'd make you an apatheist.
#463 - evenx (02/19/2013) [-]
"Do you believe god exists?" ...... that question is banal. Meaningless.. That's my point.. Therefore no, I do not care enough about the topic to make up a clearly invalid answer to a clearly invalid question.
#477 - RandomAnonGuy (02/19/2013) [-]
That question determines whether or not you're a theist or atheist, since the topic is god the question is central. If you don't care, like I said, you're not agnostic. The word is wrong.
"Do you think the movie was good?"
"I don't believe there is an answer"
I'm running out of mean pictures and gifs
#498 - evenx (02/19/2013) [-]
When it is a movie, my belief concerning the movie impacts me. If I like it, I was impacted. If I dislike it, It had influence. My point is that theism, or lack thereof, has no place pretending to REQUIRE an answer like a movie does. for instance:

Person A: OMG do you believe in the flying spaghetti monster?
Me: There is no way to know if the flying spaghetti monster is real or not, and it doesnt impact your lives in any way A and B.
I have so many mean pictures... perhaps I should be worried

The god question does impact us though because people act on it. There are people who would sock me in the jaw if I said I wasn't Christian. Also, at this point we're arguing past eachother. I'm saying that "agnostic" isn't a position and that I hate it when people are like "Hurr durr agnosticism is better" without any real input.
#519 - evenx (02/19/2013) [-]
We are arguing past each other. I say that by not taking a position, that is a position. I then claim that that position is the most intelligent one to choose.. But before I go, sir, I must say that the impact is not caused by god, it is caused by people. Intolerant, stupid, misguided people. And they will do intolerant, stupid, misguided things whether or not its a christian god, a jewish god, or no god at all. Whether or not they believe in god does not impact me. It's whether or not they choose to act on those beliefs. If you are an outspoken athiest or outspoken thiest, then that means you will act on those beliefs. That's when you are stupid, thats when you have meaning, but your god never will. Thank you sir, you've been a gentleman (by internet standards).
