DA:I Really just fell short for me. Boring story, boring characters, boring world, boring combat. I want my money back :/
AN RPG thats worth looking forward to is Mass effect 4, to be released late 2015 or early 2016.
Dark souls 2 only had good combat. The online is as fucked as ever, the levels are bland and boring, we got a fucking lava castle with a goat demon. thats the videogame equivalent to saying "Insert bossfight here". Not to mention that its linear as fuck compared to Dark souls 1. Dark souls 2 was fun combat wise, but god damnit the maps and bosses suck.

I play it now and even though the locations are beautiful, the game dies out somewhere around the middle, where all the characters slowly become dull and I care less and less about them. Combat is also a repetitive clusterfuck of mages doing flashy shit where you can't see anyhting, compiled with disfunctional tactical camera. Unless you play in the most retarded way ever, pausing before every move, the combat - the main part of the game - becomes "ehh".
Also half of the game is boring fetch quest. For example the hidden shards are a complete waste of your time, since the ruins hold nothing of great value.
Dragons were interesting, till you notice they fight in a monotone pattern. (At least it was more interesting than Skyrim, where fighting was terrible).
A good Dungeons and Dragons simulator, 6/10.
it is a bit sad that characters are forgettable. the game had a good potential.

>saying DA was the best party story drive ever made
>g-guys I'm a final fantasy fan
Wow. I don't even know why anyone would even continue after reading that.
2014 was the year that Ubisoft decided to throw the gauntlets down and become EA, and miserably fuck up every port they possibly could and butter it up with microtransactions.
Dragon Age Inquisition isn't even the best Dragon Age game there is. The characters are very stale in development, the gameplay isn't tactics-heavy as the first defining game set, the only thing it really has going for it is the impressive visuals. It's not as bad as /v/ shits on it constantly to be, but it's not good, and it sure as hell isn't "the best party story drive RPG ever made". Please tell me you're at least half-joking.
It was a total snoozer.

/v/ shits on it? Oh, that would explain the reactions I get
I stand by my claim and i don't see any reason not to. The story isn't the best, but at least my character isn't a dead shell, something that just killed any immersion I could get in Origins. The gameplay is amazing though, you get exploration, a lot of diverse quests (for a 100 hours + game), the fighting is fun, the styles are distinct and you get a challenge if you want to (I'm currently trying to get out of Heaven on nightmare). The only thing that really annoys me with the game is that I feel very challenged to control my party. One would think that there won't be such a problem considering "Origins" got it pretty right, but what can you do. I can list at least 5 things that annoy me just as much in any other DA, or other party RPG's for that matter. One can argue that the turn based FF's were better, in the respect that they told a cool story in a cool way, but they worked in much more confined space and had a lot less room for error.

It's a solid game and I don't regret buying it in the slightest. I think a lot of people just hate it on principle because of Bioware's past blunders (Being anti-gg, Dragon Age 2, being ass raped by EA). Others just blindly cling to the nostalgia of Dragon Age: Origins and refuse to admit it is anything less than the perfect game.
Gamers are like Qunari; Give them a pile of gold and they'll complain it's heavy.
Now give me red thumbs you filthy sluts...

I don't think there is a consents.
I personally think it combines a lot of things wrong with modern RPGs and videogames in general, to a point where just watching a gameplay video or trailer makes me cringe to the point of physical pain.
So I have the impulse to shit on everyone who likes it.
I also dislike Final Fantasy games.

From this year?
I really liked DivinityS and Wasteland 2 was also decent.
I also like KotoR 2, BG 1+2, Planescape, DA was good and I guess I kinda enjoyed Arcanum.
Looking forward to POE and Tides of Numeria.
I'd say I'm far from disliking the genre, which is why my hate for DA:I and those who call it "the best party based rpg ever" is so big in the first place.
#377 - dantemp (01/12/2015) [-]
OK, fair enough. I enjoy the exploration aspect and the 3d combat of DA much more than any of the others, as well as the cinematic story telling, but to each its own. I just really think that DA:I is objectively the best ever made, considering the scope versus balance and polishing. I'm glad that someone makes an effort to put so much in a game, instead of playing it safe with classical genres that were possible 20 years ago and are mastered to perfection due to that.

He asked if there was one you liked. Personally, I like the setting and story of Dragon Age: Origins. It's like a more action paced Baldur's Gate, with less rerolling for decent stats.
Inquisition, imo, has a decent magic system looking at you skyrim (although Arcane Warrior is broken as fuck, so I avoid it), an amazing crafting system for gear, a decent party approval system since you actually have to gauge their reactions instead of just looking at their approval meter, and decently sized dynamic maps with random respawning mobs. Wounds no longer instantly regenerate between fights, and they changed the broken 5 sec heal from the original.
Tactical combat is spotty, but it makes the game more challenging, trying to micro 4 members at once.
The only parts of Inquisition I really can't stand is they took out stat leveling and the tactics. Tactics was the one thing DAII did right. Other than that I love it.
But please, give us you master "objective" party based rpg.

also its one of the first dragon age games where I just feel like stopping cause its boring, I played all the mass effect and dragon age games non stop for days till I beat it. Just can't do it with this game, there is too few skills and actual varied things to do.
I remember when they said there would be stuff like keep customization for military/spy/commerce, or actual things that can change the inquistions position. All that stuff was total lies. The game is mostly linear with stupid little mini quests that you just click on to do with no involvement.
They couldn't implement all that but they spend their time on a tacked on boring multiplayer.
#21 - rupok (01/11/2015) [-]
i played around 70 hours of dragon age, got the the part with morrigan and elven ruins and its boring as shit. Its a total grindfest, the story isn't even that interesting and you keep doing same fetch quests over and over again. In previous bioware games the quests were much more dynamic than this game, it feels like they added like 80% filler content to add to hours of the game.
It didn't deserve goty at all.

Why should you be mad at someone who is not related to those actions, other than sharing their religion? Also, there are a lot of Buddhist terrorism in the east. It's just not targeted against the west.
Also, middle eastern terrorists have their reasons for attacking western targets (at least in their heads). I can't see how buddhists should be mad at the US.
Terrorism is fucked up whatever the reason. It's important to remember if Islam never existed, the terrorists would still commit terrorism because of the social and economical prerequisites are present in the region. Their ideological reasons have little to do with the willingness to commit terrorism. It's most often commited by misguided kids that don't fit in and get's taken advantage of by old men.
#283 - ciacheczko (01/08/2015) [-]
Oh course. Today my bro and I saw that "an 18y old admitted to participating in Charlie Hebdo shooting". And I mean - how can someone not question it?
Terrorists wouldn't be so organised, and often also combat-trained, if there weren't some bigger figures behind them. Bunch of teenagers are just brainwashed tools and scapegoats, serving some specific purpose of someone else behind them. They can't organise such things for shit.
Someone is manipulating all of this, someone who's far too smart to go to the front line, shoot some journalists up and to risk losing his comfortable position of a puppet master.
